{"id":180592,"date":"2016-01-30T18:35:10","date_gmt":"2016-01-31T01:35:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/?p=180592"},"modified":"2016-01-30T18:35:10","modified_gmt":"2016-01-31T01:35:10","slug":"shamrock-invite","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/shamrock-invite\/","title":{"rendered":"Notre Dame&#8217;s Relay Record Highlights Shamrock Invitational"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>By Chandler Brandes, ACC Beat Writer<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Notre Dame hosted Iowa, Illinois State, Grand Canyon, and Missouri State\u00a0in the annual Shamrock Invitational at the Rolfs Aquatic Center on Jan. 29-30.<\/p>\n<p>The Irish men beat Missouri State 230-128, but fell to Grand Canyon 224.5-145.5 and Iowa 220-150.\u00a0The Notre Dame women defeated Iowa 258-111, Illinois State 312-58, and Grand Canyon 254-115.<\/p>\n<h1>Day One<\/h1>\n<p>The Notre Dame team of\u00a0<strong>Catherine\u00a0Mulquin, Cat Galletti, Tayde Revilak,\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0<strong>Ella Moynihan<\/strong>\u00a0won the women&#8217;s 200 free relay (1:23.53). The team of Mulquin,\u00a0<strong>Danielle Margheret,\u00a0<\/strong>Galletti, and Moynihan also won the 400 medley relay (3:43.47).<\/p>\n<p>The Fighting Irish team of\u00a0<strong>Justin Plaschka, Tabahn Afrik, Reed Fujan,\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0<strong>Daniel Speers<\/strong> took second in the 200 free relay (1:21.25).\u00a0<strong>Bogac Ayhan, Andrew Jensen, Matthew Grauslys<\/strong>, and Afrik finished third in the 400 medley relay (3:20.20).<\/p>\n<p>Notre Dame swept the women&#8217;s 1 diving, led by\u00a0<strong>Emma Gaboury\u00a0<\/strong>(284.65), followed by\u00a0<strong>Lindsey Streepey<\/strong>\u00a0(276.30) and\u00a0<strong>Annie Crea<\/strong>\u00a0(275.30).<\/p>\n<p>The Fighting Irish also swept the women&#8217;s 500 free, won\u00a0by\u00a0Moynihan (4:55.07). Teammates\u00a0<strong>Alice\u00a0Treuth<\/strong>\u00a0(4:59.30) and\u00a0<strong>Molly Treble\u00a0<\/strong>(5:01.53) finished second and third, respectively.<\/p>\n<h1>Day Two<\/h1>\n<p>Both the women&#8217;s 200 medley relay (1:42.41) and 800 free relay (7:31.05) won on day two.\u00a0Revilak led Notre Dame&#8217;s sweep of the women&#8217;s 100 fly, winning in 54.95.<\/p>\n<p>Moynihan won the women&#8217;s 200 free (1:51.35), followed by teammate\u00a0<strong>Kyra\u00a0Sarazen\u00a0<\/strong>(1:52.65).\u00a0<strong>Trent Jackson\u00a0<\/strong>won the men&#8217;s 200 free (1:40.00).<\/p>\n<p>Other Notre Dame event winners included\u00a0Mulquin in the women&#8217;s 100 free (50.42),\u00a0<strong>Nicole Smith <\/strong>in the women&#8217;s 200 fly (2:02.06), and\u00a0<strong>Katie Miller <\/strong>in the women&#8217;s 400 IM (4:23.91).<\/p>\n<p>The team of Mulquin, Moynihan, Galletti, and Revilak concluded the meet by winning the 400 free relay\u00a0(3:20.29), breaking the previous pool record of 3:21.16 set back in 2013.<\/p>\n<p>The Fighting Irish compete next at the ACC Championships in Greensboro.<\/p>\n<p>Full meet results: <a href=\"\/results\/2016-shamrock-invitational\/ncaa-college\/2016\/January\/29\" target=\"_blank\">2016 Shamrock Invitational &#8211; Results<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Chandler Brandes, ACC Beat Writer Notre Dame hosted Iowa, Illinois State, Grand Canyon, and Missouri State\u00a0in the annual Shamrock Invitational at the Rolfs Aquatic Center on Jan. 29-30.
