KARLEE Bispo of Thomas Downey set the National High School record in the 200 freestyle last night at the CIF San-Joaquin Section Championships.<\/p>\n<p>Bispo, a <i>Swimming World<\/i> six-star recruit heading to the University of Texas next year, clocked a time of 1:45.14.  That performance cleared the national public school record of Rhiannon Jeffrey set in 2002 with a 1:45.49 while representing Atlantic Delray.  The swim was also faster than the independent school record to stand as the overall fastest time in the event.  Kate Ziegler still holds the independent record with a 1:45.49 set in 2006 while representing Bishop O&#39;Connell.<\/p>\n<p>Bispo initially clocked a time of 1:47.66 during prelims before splitting the record swim in 23.98, 50.12, 1:17.24, 1:45.14.<\/p>\n<p>Bispo, meanwhile, raced to a time of 48.75 in the 100 free just 90 minutes later barely missing Kara Lynn Joyce&#39;s national record of 48.59.  Bispo&#39;s time was faster than Christina Swindle&#39;s independent school record of 48.90 set in 2002 for Gulliver Prep.<\/p>\n<p>In the 100 free, Bispo went out in 23.52.<\/p>\n<p>Bispo finished her career undefeated in high school competition and has been an All-American in all eight events.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>LODI, California, May 11.
