Following the meet, at 27-swimmer<\/b> team was nominated for the 2008 Olympic team<\/b>. Earlier this month, the USOC also named swimming coach Paul Yetter as the USOC Development Coach of the Year for 2007. Yetter works with Katie Hoff, Felicia Lee and Daniel Madwed, among others.<\/p>\n Apr.21–<\/i>The 2008 USA Diving Nationals<\/b><\/a> were April 13-20 in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Coaches: Oscar Huen and Miguel Hern\u00e1ndez.<\/p>\n Apr.21–<\/i>Sisters Ana and Mar\u00eda Soto competed in the duet event at the synchro Olympic test event in Beijing, China, April 16-20. The event served as the second and final qualifier for the 2008 Olympics.<\/p>\n OTHER<\/b> Mar.26–<\/i>The International Swimming Hall of Fame (ISHOF) will host the 2008 ISHOF Induction ceremony<\/a> on Sunday, July 6, 2008 in Omaha, Nebraska, USA.<\/p>\n Mar.27–<\/i>The World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA<\/b>) has withdrawn its Athlete's Passport pilot program from the International Cycling Union (UCI)<\/a>, where it was being tested. This is due to a current legal suit UCI has against WADA. WADA is planning to move the pilot to another sport.<\/p>\n Apr.8–<\/i>Italian Mino Auletta has been elected President of the Court of Arbitration for Sport<\/b> (CAS). Auletta had been serving as interim-president since the death in-office of the former president in January 2007; his election is for the remainder of the current term, which will expire in 2010.<\/p>\n Apr.9–<\/i>Balfour Beatty will construct the aquatics center for the 2012 Olympics<\/b><\/a>. The construction budget for the pool was also updated to \u00a3242 million; up from the originally proposed \u00a373 million.<\/p>\n Apr.10–<\/i>FINA has posted statistics on its 2007 drug testing program<\/a>. In total, 1,079 out-of-competition (OCC) and 836 in-competition tests were conducted; these were on 629 swimmers from 52 countries; 585 tests on athletes from 61 countries and all 5 disciplines were conducted in-competition. Related: FINA Anti-Doping forms online<\/a>.<\/p>\n Apr.10–<\/i>The Executive Committee of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) approved the anti-doping rules for the 2008 Olympics<\/a>. A copy of these rules are to be sent to each participating country and posted on the IOC website. The linked announcement above mentions that the top-5 plus an additional 2 in each event will be tested.<\/p>\n Apr.11–<\/i>The 2008 Swimming World Cup<\/b> circuit was announced as follows: Apr.14–<\/i>16 Short Course World Records<\/b> were set at the 9th FINA World Swimming Championships 25m<\/a>, held in Manchester, UK, April 9-13, 2008. Those records were: Apr.21–<\/i>Following the synchronized swimming Olympic test event<\/a>, April 16-20 in Beijing, China, the Olympic fields<\/b> have been set<\/a>. \nApr.17–<\/i>The meet summons<\/b> for the 2008 Aquatics Centre International<\/b> meet, May 30-June 1 in Bridgetown<\/b> has been posted online here<\/a>. The meet is an Olympic qualifying event.<\/p>\n
\nApr.17–<\/i>After coordinating with the Secretary of Health for the State of Rio de Janeiro, the Brazilian Aquatic Sports Confederation, Confedera\u00e7\u00e3o Brasileira de Desportos Aqu\u00e1ticos (CBDA), has decided to keep the 2008 Brazilian Nationals at the beginning of May in Rio. Concern over the location and timing of the meet has developed following a breakout of dengue fever in the area. The outbreak is believed to be waning. Contingency plans are in development and are to be announced tomorrow, regarding efforts to ensure the safety\/health of participants at the event.<\/p>\n
\nMar.20–<\/i>Diving Canada announced that 47 divers will compete at the 2008 Canadian Olympic Trials<\/a>, June 20-22 in Victoria, British Columbia.<\/p>\n

\nHavanna–<\/i>The 2008 Cuban Olympics<\/a> were held April 12-26. The annual event this year featured more than a 1,000 athletes from 15 countries, in multiple sports. Aquatics disciplines contested were: diving (April 13-17), swimming (April 19-24), synchro (April 13-17) and water polo (April 13-20).<\/p>\n

\nApr.7–<\/i>Natasha Moodie<\/b> swam to a Jamaican Record in the women's 50 free (26.08)<\/b> at the USA Grand Prix meet in Columbus, Ohio, April 4-6<\/a>. With her time, Moodie became Jamaica's first swimmer to qualify for the 2008 Olympics.<\/p>\n
\nThe 2008 Mexican Synchro Championships were April 23-27 in Aguascalientes.<\/p>\n
\nApr.22–<\/i>The Saint Lucia Amateur Swimming Association (SLASA) held its annual meeting<\/b> on April 22, 2008.<\/p>\n
\nApr.8–<\/i>U.S. Paralympics has nominated a 38-member swim team (18 men, 20 women) as the USA's team for the 2008 Paralympics<\/a>. The nomination came following the USA's Paralympic Trials, April 3-5, 2008 in Minneapolis, Minnesota<\/a>.<\/p>\n
