MOLENBEEK, Belgium, May 3. THE third day of swimming at the Belgium National Championships held in Molenbeek featured Kimberly Buys doubling up with a pair of victories.<\/p>\n

Buys began the first part of her double with a conquest of the women's 200 back when she touched in 2:15.18, she then claimed the title in the women's 50 fly with a time of 27.73, off her national record of 26.83.<\/p>\n

Griet Buelens continued her strong meet with another victory, this time with a 4:19.81 in the women's 400 free. Stef Verachten followed in the men's 200 free with a close triumph over national-record holder Glenn Surgeloose, 1:50.38 to 1:50.87.<\/p>\n

National-record holder Bruno Claeys finished well shy of his 55.65 standard in the men's 100 back, but still cruised to a win in 57.95. Meanwhile, Elise Matthysen earned the title in the women's 100 breast, an event she holds the national record in with a 1:08.95, when she hit the pads in 1:11.78.<\/p>\n

Julien Hanot walked away with the sprint breaststroke crown among the men with a time of 29.62 over the 50-meter course. Additionally, Bjorn Balliu picked up the men's 200 IM title in 2:10.04.<\/p>\n

Tom Vangeneugden closed the curtain on the individual events for the day with a victory in the men's 1500 free (15:33.23).<\/p>\n

The team of Pierre Romanini, Pierre Meunier, Olivier Landauer and Yoris Grandjean finished the day with a men's 400 medley relay win in 3:51.74, just off the national record of 3:51.71.<\/p>\n
