The underclassmen women were instrumental in the victory, while the upperclassmen men proved to be lethal.<\/p>\n<h2>Men&#8217;s Meet:<\/h2>\n<p>The meet began with a closely contested 200 medley relay. The Stanford team of\u00a0<strong>Ryan Dudzinski, Christian Brown, Andrew Liang,\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0<strong>Sam Perry<\/strong> took the event with a time of 1:28.85, while the Arizona team of\u00a0<strong>Chatham Dobbs, Andrew Sovero, Chad Indensohn,\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0<strong>Renny Richmond<\/strong> touched close behind with a final time of 1:29.39. The Arizona freshman\u00a0<strong>Ty Fowler\u00a0<\/strong>took the 1650 free with a winning time of 15:23.24, just beating Stanford sophomore\u00a0<strong>Liam Egan\u00a0<\/strong>at the finish. Egan was a 15:23.84.<\/p>\n<p>A pair of Stanford seniors then went 1-2 in the 200 free&#8211;<strong>Sean Duggan\u00a0<\/strong>claimed the win with a time of 1:38.69 and classmate\u00a0<strong>Jeff Garnier<\/strong> was second with a 1:39.21. The Stanford men then swept the 100 back, led by the freshman Dudzinski (48.82) and rounded off with the senior\u00a0<strong>Ryan Arata<\/strong> (49.52) and sophomore\u00a0<strong>Patrick Conaton\u00a0<\/strong>(49.66). Conaton just edged out the Arizona freshman Dobbs, who claimed fourth with a 49.68. Freshman\u00a0<strong>Matt Anderson<\/strong> was the next winner for Stanford when he claimed the 100 breast (55.84). He was followed by senior teammate Brown (56.06).<\/p>\n<p>Stanford junior\u00a0<strong>Jimmy Yoder<\/strong> topped the podium in the 200 fly (1:46.13) and was followed by senior teammate\u00a0<strong>Gray Umbach\u00a0<\/strong>(1:46.54). Arizona&#8217;s sophomore\u00a0<strong>Justin Wright<\/strong> was third (1:47.95). The top two spots in the 50 free were also claimed by Stanford swimmers. Sophomore Perry took the event (20.20) and junior teammate\u00a0<strong>Spencer DeShon<\/strong> followed closely behind (20.34).<\/p>\n<p>Duggan and Garnier logged another 1-2 finish in the 100 free, going 45.30 and 45.35, respectively. Arizona&#8217;s Richmond was third with a time of 46.05. Conaton and Arata then ran off with the 200 back, with time of 1:45.54 and 1:47.26. A trio of junior\u00a0<strong>Max Williamson<\/strong> (2:02.14), Anderson (2:02.20), and sophomore\u00a0<strong>Curtis Ogden\u00a0<\/strong>(2:04.64) swept the 200 breast. Stanford recorded another sweep in the 500 free, with Egan (4:29.36) taking first, senior\u00a0<strong>Danny Thomson<\/strong> (4:29.45) coming in a close second, and Yoder rounding off the podium with a time of 4:32.38.<\/p>\n<p>The Stanford men were then scored as exhibition and the Arizona team of Richmond,\u00a0<strong>Parks Jones,\u00a0<\/strong>Dobbs, and Indensohn finished out the meet with a win in the 400 free relay (3:01.43). Senior Arizona diver\u00a0<strong>Rafael Quintero\u00a0<\/strong>took both boards. Stanford took the meet form Arizona with a score of 173-118.<\/p>\n<h2>Women&#8217;s Meet:<\/h2>\n<p>In a similar fashion, the Stanford women hit the water swimming as they overtook the Arizona women. A team of\u00a0<strong>Ally Howe, Sarah Haase, Janet Hu,<\/strong> and\u00a0<strong>Lia Neal<\/strong> claimed the 200 medley relay with a time of 1:38.22, two seconds ahead of the Arizona team of\u00a0<strong>Annie Ochitwa, Emma Schoettmer, Mackenzie Rumrill<\/strong>, and\u00a0<strong>Taylor Schick<\/strong> (1:40.21). Stanford freshman\u00a0<strong>Leah Stevens\u00a0<\/strong>kept the momentum going with a win in the 1000 free (10:00.00), over 16 seconds ahead of Arizona&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Emma McCarthy<\/strong>, who finished second in the event with a 10:16.56.<\/p>\n<p>Stanford then went 1-2 in the 200 free, led by junior Neal (1:46.90). Freshman\u00a0<strong>Ella Eastin\u00a0<\/strong>claimed second with a time of 1:48.50. Sophomore Howe then claimed a convincing victory in the 100 back with a time of 53.60, over a second faster than Arizona&#8217;s freshman Garcia (54.61), and nearly two seconds ahead of the Arizona freshman Ochitwa (55.20). The senior Haase added another victory to Stanford&#8217;s tally, when she went a 1:01.06 in the 100 breast. Arizona claimed second and third, with senior Schoettmer (1:02.95) and sophomore <strong>Heidi Poppe\u00a0<\/strong>(1:03.77).<\/p>\n<p>Led by Eastin (1:56.75), who was followed by sophomore <strong>Lindsey Engel<\/strong> (1:59.84) and junior\u00a0<strong>Tara Halsted <\/strong>(2:01.19), the Stanford women swept the 200 fly. Sophomore Hu then took the 50 free (23.18) and was followed by senior teammate\u00a0<strong>Julia Ama<\/strong> (23.22) and Arizona freshman <strong>Katerina Konopka\u00a0<\/strong>(23.41). Neal claimed another individual win in the 100 free (49.17), while Ama was second (50.04). Konopka was third in the event (50.81). Hu joined the multi-event winners with her victory in the 200 back (1:55.46), as did Haase with her 2:14.10 in the 200 breast, just .14 ahead of Arizona&#8217;s Schoettmer. Arizona freshman\u00a0<strong>Sarah Shimomura<\/strong> claimed the 500 free with a time of 4:53.45, edging out Stanford&#8217;s Stevens by just four tenths of a second.<\/p>\n<p>Hu recorded a hat trick with a third individual win in the 100 fly (53.15). The meet was then scored with Stanford as exhibition after Stanford divers <strong>Alex Clay and Gracia Leydon-Mahoney\u00a0<\/strong>took the 1-meter and 3-meter boards, respectively. Arizona closed the meet out with a win in the 400 free relay&#8211;a team of Ochitwa, Shick, Kanopka, and Garcia won with a final time of 3:22.04. The No. 2 Stanford women beat the No. 11 Arizona women with a final score of 181-114.<\/p>\n<p>The No. 5 Stanford men are back in action on Saturday February 6 to take on USC, while the No. 2 Stanford women will take on UCLA on Friday\u00a0January 29 and USC on Saturday January 30. The No. 15 Arizona men will take on the No. 1 Texas men on Friday January 29 and Saturday January 30, as the No. 11 Arizona women take on the No. 6 Texas women at the same time.<\/p>\n<p>Full
