The star of the day for the Wildcats was junior <strong>Lacey Locke<\/strong> as she won three individual events for Northwestern.<\/p>\n<p>Locke started her hat trick day\u00a0with a win in the 100 back at 55.71. She later won the 200 back (2:00.11) and the 200 IM (2:05.33). Locke also led off the second place 200 medley relay team (25.90).<\/p>\n<p>Junior <strong>Annika Winsnes<\/strong> won two events on the day beginning with the 200 free (1:51.00) and the 100 free (50.86). She also anchored the winning 400 free relay with a stellar 49.97 split to seal the comeback win over Iowa. Joining her on that relay were <strong>Mary Warren<\/strong>, <strong>Julia Pratt<\/strong> and <strong>Maddy Sims<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Northwestern distance swimmers <strong>Ellen Anderson<\/strong> and <strong>Lauren Abruzzo<\/strong> traded hits with Abruzzo claiming the 1000 (10:09.66) ahead of Anderson&#8217;s 10:11.39. Anderson won the 500 at 4:59.64 on her senior day ahead of Abruzzo&#8217;s 5:01.12.<\/p>\n<p>Iowa&#8217;s <strong>Emma Sougstad<\/strong> was another double winner as she won both breaststroke events with a 1:03.44 and 2:16.89 as well as being the breaststroker on the winning 200 medley relay team (28.29). She was joined in that relay by <strong>Allie Orvis<\/strong>, <strong>Kelly McNamara<\/strong> and <strong>Taylor Flummerfelt<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Other winners on the day were Northwestern&#8217;s <strong>Maddy Sims<\/strong> in the 200 fly (2:02.91), <strong>Marry Warren<\/strong> in the 50 free (22.94) and Iowa&#8217;s <strong>Kelly McNamara<\/strong> in the 100 fly (56.02). Northwestern won the meet on the women&#8217;s side 174.5-106.5.<\/p>\n<p>Iowa senior <strong>Roman Trussov<\/strong> triumphed in both breaststroke events as he won the 100 at 55.69 and the 200 at 2:02.65. Trussov also swam the breast leg on the winning 200 medley relay with a 24.77 split on the 1:29.65 winning time. Joining him on the relay was <strong>Kenneth Mende<\/strong>, <strong>Jerzy Twarowski<\/strong> and <strong>Jack Smith<\/strong>. Trussov also led off the victorious 400 free relay team at 46.35 along with <strong>Matt Kamin<\/strong>, <strong>Jackson Halsmer<\/strong> and Smith at 3:01.88 just ahead of Northwestern&#8217;s 3:02.13.<\/p>\n<p>Mende also won the two backstroke events with a 48.89 and a 1:48.47, just ahead of Northwestern freshman <strong>Anthony Marcantonio<\/strong> (1:48.83). Marcantonio was another double winner on the day with wins in the 200 free (1:39.28) and the 200 IM (1:50.57).<\/p>\n<p>Polish sophomore Twarowski is having himself a swift season as he added two more wins for the Hawkeyes with wins in the 200 (1:49.05) and 100 fly (49.05).<\/p>\n<p>The other double event winner on the day was Northwestern freshman <strong>Carter Page<\/strong> as he collected the distance double with a 9:23.96 1000 and a 4:34.45 500 free.<\/p>\n<p>Other event winners on the day were Northwestern sophomore <strong>Almog Oshtein<\/strong> in the 50 free (20.41) and Iowa freshman Jack Smith in the 100 free (45.18).<\/p>\n<p>The Iowa men collected the road win 174.5-125.5.
