{"id":179419,"date":"2016-01-23T14:56:43","date_gmt":"2016-01-23T21:56:43","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/?p=179419"},"modified":"2016-01-23T19:36:08","modified_gmt":"2016-01-24T02:36:08","slug":"bc","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/bc\/","title":{"rendered":"Boston College Sets Four Meet Records at Dartmouth Invite"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>By Chandler Brandes, ACC Beat Writer<\/em><\/p>\n<p>The winter storm couldn&#8217;t stop Boston College from competing in the annual Dartmouth Invite, hosted by the Upper Valley Aquatic Center in White River Junction, Vermont.<\/p>\n<p>The Eagle women placed third (621 points), behind Dartmouth (1092) and Northeastern (930) and ahead of Massachusetts (537).\u00a0The Eagle men won the meet with 1153 points, ahead of Dartmouth (1063) and Massachusetts (774).<\/p>\n<h2>Day One<\/h2>\n<p>The meet began with the relay team of\u00a0<strong>Maureen Barron, Gracie Kunkel, Julie Dobson,\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0<strong>Elizabeth Manning<\/strong>\u00a0taking third in the 200 free relay in 1:39.79.\u00a0The team of\u00a0<strong>Dan Kelly, Conor Chamness, David Hunter,\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0<strong>Colin Derdeyn<\/strong>\u00a0started the men&#8217;s meet off with a bang by setting a new meet record with a time of 1:24.23.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Anthony Richardson\u00a0<\/strong>(4:37.89) took second in the men&#8217;s 500 free, while Manning<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>(5:13.93) placed 10th on the women&#8217;s side.\u00a0<strong>Erika Freeman<\/strong> placed seventh in the 200 IM (2:13.99) while\u00a0<strong>Taylor Cortens<\/strong> won the men&#8217;s event, touching the wall in 1:53.98.\u00a0<strong>Maureen Barron<\/strong> was the highest finisher for the Eagles in the women&#8217;s 50 free, placing fifth in 24.49.\u00a0Kelly won the men&#8217;s 50 free in record-setting fashion: the senior finished in 20.26, setting both the pool and meet record.<\/p>\n<p>The relay team of\u00a0<strong>Caroline Quindlen, Alison McDonough, Mackenzie Merriam,\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0<strong>Laura Packer<\/strong> placed ninth in the women&#8217;s 400 medley relay (4:08.17). To\u00a0conclude day one, the men&#8217;s team of\u00a0<strong>Josh Williams, Billy Miller, Estephen Saliba,\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0<strong>Cole Vanderwel\u00a0<\/strong>placed second in 3:27.90.<\/p>\n<h2>Day Two<\/h2>\n<p>The relay team of Williams, Miller, <strong>David Howard,<\/strong> and Kelly\u00a0opened up day two by setting another pool and meet record in the men&#8217;s 200 medley relay (1:32.76), and the women&#8217;s relay took second in 1:49.60.\u00a0<strong>Sara Touchette-McGowan<\/strong> placed third in the women&#8217;s 400 IM (4:38.49), while Cortens took second for the men in 4:08.18.<\/p>\n<p>Richardson took third in the men&#8217;s 200 free (1:43.02), and later placed second in the 1650 (16:06.55).\u00a0Barron took third in the women&#8217;s 100 breast (1:08.05) as\u00a0Miller (58.49) and <strong>Mckenzie Cole<\/strong>\u00a0(58.58) went 1-2 in the men&#8217;s 100 breast.\u00a0Chamness (51.07) and Williams (51.74) went 2-3 in the men&#8217;s 100 back, as\u00a0Cortens (1:52.19) and Williams (1:53.70) also went 2-3 in the 200 back.<\/p>\n<p>Kelly won the men&#8217;s 100 free (45.15), shattering\u00a0the pool and meet record. He also\u00a0took second in the men&#8217;s 100 fly (51.63) as Howard placed second in the men&#8217;s 200 fly (1:53.91).\u00a0Diver\u00a0<strong>Cole Malatesta<\/strong>\u00a0dove to second in both the men&#8217;s 1m (288.30) and 3m (315.70).\u00a0The meet concluded with Cortens, Hunter, <strong>R.
