{"id":179417,"date":"2016-01-23T13:19:31","date_gmt":"2016-01-23T20:19:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/?p=179417"},"modified":"2016-01-23T19:38:49","modified_gmt":"2016-01-24T02:38:49","slug":"georgia-tech","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/georgia-tech\/","title":{"rendered":"Shannon Lumbra Wins Twice As Georgia Tech Falls to Alabama"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>By Chandler Brandes, ACC Beat Writer<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Georgia Tech travelled to Tuscaloosa to race against Alabama on Saturday.\u00a0The Alabama women defeated Georgia Tech 191-106, while the men beat\u00a0the Yellow Jackets 199-99.<\/p>\n<h2>Women&#8217;s Meet<\/h2>\n<p>The meet began with Georgia Tech&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Maddie Paschal, Florina Ilie, Laura Branton,\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0<strong>Iris Wang<\/strong> winning the 200 medley relay in 1:44.19 to Alabama&#8217;s 1:44.23.\u00a0Wang later took second in both the 50 free (23.67) and 100 free (50.58). <strong>Chiara Ruiu\u00a0<\/strong>placed second in the 200 free (1:51.75) and third in the 400 IM (4:28.24), while\u00a0<strong>Alex Rieger\u00a0<\/strong>(2:03.66) and\u00a0<strong>Sara Gilbert<\/strong> (2:04.72) went 2-3, respectively, in the 200 back.\u00a0Diver\u00a0<strong>Shannon Lumbra<\/strong>\u00a0swept both diving events, winning the 1m (290.90) and the 3m (293.60).<\/p>\n<h2>Men&#8217;s Meet<\/h2>\n<p>The men&#8217;s meet started with\u00a0<strong>Brian Woodbury, Moises Loschi,\u00a0<\/strong><strong>Ben Southern,\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0<strong>Youssef Hammoud\u00a0<\/strong>placing third in the 200 medley relay (1:31.02).\u00a0Southern later won the 200 fly (1:47.62) and took third in the 100 fly (49.15), while\u00a0Loschi<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>also\u00a0won the 200 breast (2:00.31) and placed\u00a0second in the 400 IM (4:00.42).\u00a0<strong>Yuval Safra<\/strong>\u00a0claimed\u00a0first in the 1000 free (9:22.17), and diver\u00a0<strong>Matt Casillas\u00a0<\/strong>placed second in the 3m (341.15).<\/p>\n<p>Full meet results: <a href=\"\/results\/alabama-v-georgia-tech-dual\/ncaa-college\/2016\/January\/23\" target=\"_blank\">Alabama v.
