LAUSANNE, Switzerland, April 21. ACCORDING to a press release from FINA, the organization has put together its final synchronized swimming field for the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games.<\/p>\n

The final list of the eight teams and 24 duets qualified for the 2008 Olympic Games is now known after the Qualification Tournament (working also as Test Event for this discipline) held in Beijing (CHN) from April 16-20, 2008. In the team event, the competition selected three nations \u2013 Spain, Japan and Canada -, with the remaining five nations that will be next August at the Games previously selected through the continental quota. In the duet, the qualification tournament allowed to 15 nations to get their Olympic \u2018ticket', with nine countries (the same eight that got the team spot, plus New Zealand) previously determined \u2013 for a total of 24 duets at the Games<\/p>\n
During five days, the \u2018Water Cube' was crowded, with a daily average of more than 7,000 spectators that came to see the stars of synchronised swimming. Among the spectators, the FINA President Mustapha Larfaoui was also a presence in the stands of the National Aquatic Centre.<\/p>\n
