OUTSIDE smoke victories have been fairly common at the FINA World Short Course Championships.  The women&#39;s 200 breast was no different, as South Africa&#39;s Suzaan van Biljon broke the meet record from lane one.<\/p>\n<p>van Biljon completed the longer distance breaststroke event with a time of 2:18.73 for the triumph.  She blasted the previous meet record of 2:20.22 set by Masami Tanaka back in 1999.<\/p>\n<p>&quot;I think being in lane eight worked in my favor because I could just concentrate on doing the race I wanted without being put under pressure by other athletes,&quot; van Biljon told meet organizers.<\/p>\n<p>The win is the first for South Africa in the event.  China&#39;s Qi Hui had won two of the past three titles in 2002 and 2006, while Brooke Hanson of Australia won in 2004. With three titles, China has the most in the event&#39;s history as Dai Guohong won in 1993.<\/p>\n<p>Australia&#39;s Sally Foster placed second in 2:20.11, while Russian teenager Yuliya Efimova took third in 2:20.48.<\/p>\n<p><a href=http:\/\/65.110.72.225\/SPIPDF\/041308wscmw200breastf.pdf target=_blank>Event Results<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Viewers from the United States, click here to watch all the races at WCSN.com for FREE.
