This past week saw a lot of competition for the Pac-12 schools, both in and out of the conference, as well as on the pro swimming circuits. There were also a mix of dual meets and invitationals.<\/p>\n

5 Takeaways from the Pac-12:<\/h2>\n

  1. Underclassmen are leading the charge. From USC’s defeat of Wisconsin, where an overwhelming number of individual event winners were freshmen and sophomores, to the standouts from Arizona State, it seems that the juniors and seniors are beginning to pass the baton to the youngsters.<\/li>\n
  2. The divers are putting in the work. While the swimmers in the conference were either competing at the Arena Pro Swim in Austin, Texas or swimming in dual meets, many of the divers were competing at the Bruins Invitational, hosted by UCLA. 13 schools and over 50 divers came together to compete on both boards and the tower and the Pac-12 schools had impressive showings.<\/li>\n
  3. Numerous Pac-12 schools will be represented at Olympic Trials. With the results from the Arena Pro Swim in Austin, it’s become obvious that a number of swimmers from Pac-12 schools will be vying for a spot to represent the United States in Rio this summer. Among them are\u00a0Liz Pelton<\/strong> from California and\u00a0Felicia Lee<\/strong> from Stanford.<\/li>\n
  4. Swimmers are dialing into their championship meet modes. With a slew of multi-day invitationals and back-to-back dual meets, the swimmers and divers are mentally and physically rehearsing for the end of the season.<\/li>\n
  5. B cuts. Even in dual meets, Pac-12 swimmers are routinely logging NCAA B cuts, putting them in prime positions to qualify for the National Championship meet in March at their conference championship meet in February.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
