The 2017 Worlds are set to be held in Hungarian city of Budapest, which took over hosting duties after Guadalajara <a href=\"http:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/budapest-replaces-guadalajara-2017-fina-world-championship-host\/\">elected they were unable to host the event<\/a>, citing the mounting\u00a0costs associated with the event. While a only a short clip, this should give the aquatics community some reassurance that Budapest will be able to host a memorable\u00a0competition\u00a0despite the earlier than anticipated timeline. While\u00a0<strong>Salo\u00a0<\/strong>has an extensive resume,\u00a0<strong>Schubert\u00a0<\/strong>is a former US National Team Head Coach and was the Head Coach for Team USA at the 2008 Beijing Games.\u00a0<strong>Hardy\u00a0<\/strong>started training with Golden west during the holiday break and\u00a0explains the move as a breath of fresh air to her training that has provided new and unexpected challenges. The Olympic medalist also states that she still credits\u00a0<strong>Salo\u00a0<\/strong>with &#8220;absolutely everything I have accomplished in my career&#8221; and that her now-former coach has been very supportive in the process. The Cavalier women had held that spot for much of the year up until this point, where they have dropped to third. The Stanford women moved up to the #2 spot, while Texas made a big jump to now sit at #4. <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/tyr-cscaa-ncaa-division-ii-division-iii-rankings-released\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">For the Division II and Division III polls, there was no change in the top spots<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, with Queens University sitting first for both men and women in Division II while the Emory women and Kenyon men sat at the top spot for Division III. Reportedly, <\/span><b>Putin\u2019s <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">office<\/span> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">has been linked to cover-ups related to suspicious test results from Russian athletes. While the report from the <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Associated Press <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">centers on track and field, it is significant to see the level of involvement within the Russian government to potentially cover-up what appears to be systematic doping of athletes. Russian swimmers have had a high number of positive doping tests in recent years, leading many to suspect a similar scandal and cover-up may be present in Russian aquatics. Swimmers from across the country and around the world collected in Austin to kick off the Olympic Year, and the results did not disappoint.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Katie Ledecky <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">was one of the brightest stars of the meet,\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/katie-ledecky-blasts-5th-fastest-400-free-ever\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">winning the 400 freestyle in 3:59.54, the fifth-fastest time ever<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, setting a lifetime best and near U.S. Open mark with <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/watch-epic-katie-ledecky-sarah-sjostrom-200-free-battle\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">a 1:54.43 in the 200 freestyle<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, and\u00a0closing out the meet <a href=\"http:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/katie-ledecky-blasts-807-barrier-world-record-800-free-austin\/\">with a <em>world record<\/em> of 8:06.68 in the 800 freestyle<\/a>\u00a0to become the first woman to break 8:07. <\/span><b>Ledecky <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">also posted an incredible 53.75 in the 100 freestyle as she continues her quest to challenge for relay spots this summer in addition to her utter\u00a0dominance in the distance events.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Swedish superstar <\/span><b>Sarah Sjostrom <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">also had a standout meet, setting two U.S. Open records in both <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/watch-sarah-sjostrom-smoke-100-fly-u-s-open-record\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">the 100 butterfly (56.38)<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/watch-sarah-sjostrom-set-100-free-u-s-open-record\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">100 freestyle (53.17)<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> while narrowly <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/watch-sarah-sjostrom-nearly-set-50-free-u-s-open-record-in-austin\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">missing a third in the 50 freestyle (24.17)<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.
