Women’s 200 fly<\/strong><\/p>\n

SwimMAC’s Cammile Adams<\/strong> dominated the women’s 200-meter fly at the 2016 Arena Pro Swim Series Austin.<\/p>\n

Adams clocked a top time of 2:08.21 for the win. That’s well off her best time in January ever – a 2:06.76 from this meet back in 2012 that also stands as the top 200 fly ever in the month of January.<\/p>\n

HPCO’s Audrey Lacroix<\/strong> turned in a second-place time of 2:09.90, while NCAP’s Cassidy Bayer<\/strong> clocked a third-place 2:10.14.<\/p>\n

Kentucky’s Christina Bechtel<\/strong> (2:10.29), Chattahoochee Gold’s Lauren Case<\/strong> (2:10.94), Texas A&M’s Sarah Gibson<\/strong> (2:11.67), Razorback’s Taylor Pike<\/strong> (2:12.47) and Dakota Luther<\/strong> (2:13.22) closed out the rest of the championship eight.<\/p>\n

Between Lacroix (32) and Bayer, Pike and Luther (all 16), there was a 16-year-age gap represented in the finale.<\/p>\n

Noelle Tarazona<\/strong>, swimming unattached, picked up the B final win in 2:12.34. \u00a0SoFlo’s Claire Donahue<\/strong> turned in a 2:14.28 to place second, while NCAP’s Kaitlin Pawlowicz<\/strong> claimed third in 2:14.47.<\/p>\n

Men’s 200 fly<\/strong><\/p>\n
Singapore’s Zheng Wen Quah<\/strong> turned on the jets down the stretch to win the men’s 200-meter fly at the 2016 Arena Pro Swim Series Austin.<\/p>\n
Quah clocked a time of 1:58.07 for the win, just a second-and-a-half off his personal best. \u00a0That was good enough for the victory.<\/p>\n
Sweden’s Simon Sjodin<\/strong> hit the wall second with a time of 1:58.27, while Andrew Seliskar<\/strong> rounded out the top three in 1:58.47.<\/p>\n
SwimMAC’s Tyler Clary<\/strong> also cleared 2:00 with a fourth-place time of 1:58.61.<\/p>\n
Great Britain’s Jay Lellliott<\/strong> (2:00.55), HPCO’s Zack Chetrat<\/strong> (2:00.61) and Club Wolverine’s Michael Klueh<\/strong> (2:00.73) finished fifth through seventh.<\/p>\n
California’s Tom Shields<\/strong>, who led at the 150 with a 1:26.94, could not keep his swim together as he faded badly to eight with a 2:01.10.<\/p>\n
NBAC’s Chase Kalisz<\/strong> topped the B final in a time of 1:59.15, while Grant Shoults<\/strong> nearly posted a career best with a second-place 1:59.45. \u00a0Oakville’s Mack Darragh<\/strong> placed third in 2:00.51.<\/p>\n

Women’s 100 breast<\/strong><\/p>\n
SwimMAC’s Katie Meili<\/strong> won by nearly a second in the women’s 100-meter breast at the 2016 Arena Pro Swim Series Austin.<\/p>\n
Meili turned in a time of 1:06.75, a second off her personal best and just a second off the top 100 breast ever in January. \u00a0Leisel Jones<\/strong> owns that record with a\u00a01:05.71 at the 2006 Australian Commonwealth Games Trials.<\/p>\n
SoFlo’s Alia Atkinson<\/strong> threw down a second-place time of 1:07.47, while Tennessee’s Molly Hannis<\/strong> earned third in 1:07.50.<\/p>\n
NYAC’s Breeja Larson<\/strong> (1:08.09), Golden West’s Jessica Hardy<\/strong> (1:08.22), BlueFish’s Laura Sogar<\/strong> (1:08.43), Gator’s Hilda Luthersdottir<\/strong> (1:08.45) and LASC’s Rachel Nicol<\/strong> (1:09.21) finished fourth through eighth.<\/p>\n
Saint Petersburg’s Melanie Margalis<\/strong> won the B final in 1:08.20. \u00a0Missouri’s Katherine Ross<\/strong> clocked a second-place 1:08.59, just off her career best. \u00a0Franko Jonker<\/strong> took third in 1:09.28.<\/p>\n

Longhorn’s Andrew Wilson<\/strong> touched out Kevin Cordes<\/strong> for the men’s 100-meter breast win at the 2016 Arena Pro Swim Series Austin.<\/p>\n
Wilson hit the wall in 1:00.42, well off his personal best of 59.65 that put him on the map last summer.<\/p>\n
Cordes, meanwhile, grabbed silver with a time of 1:00.53, while Missouri’s Sam Tierney<\/strong> snagged third in 1:00.63.<\/p>\n
Athens Bulldog’s Nic Fink<\/strong> placed fourth in 1:00.86, while HPCO’s Richard Funk<\/strong> tied with Indie’s Michael Andrew<\/strong> and California’s Chuck Katis<\/strong> for fifth with 1:01.73s.<\/p>\n
Great Britain’s James Wilby<\/strong> snagged eighth in 1:01.82.<\/p>\n
Trojan’s Jason Block<\/strong> captured the consolation heat with a time of 1:01.96. Wisconsin’s Nicholas Schafer<\/strong> placed second in 1:02.18 with Missouri’s Fabian Schwingenschlogl<\/strong> taking third in 1:02.28. \u00a0SwimMAC’s Ryan Lochte<\/strong> wound up 14th overall in 1:02.61.<\/p>\n

Hungary’s Katinka Hosszu<\/strong> won the women’s 100-meter back at the 2016 Arena Pro Swim Series Austin.<\/p>\n
Hosszu posted a 59.91 for the win, while Colorado Stars’ Missy Franklin<\/strong> nearly caught her down the stretch with a blazing 30.50 final half with a 1:00.03 for second.<\/p>\n
California’s Kathleen Baker<\/strong>, the 50-meter leader with a 29.01, took third overall in 1:00.04.<\/p>\n
SwimMAC’s Kirsty Coventry<\/strong> (1:00.36), Missouri’s Hannah Stevens<\/strong> (1:00.51), Stanford’s Maya DiRado<\/strong> (1:00.77), Oakville’s Dominique Bouchard<\/strong> (1:01.11) and California’s Rachel Bootsma<\/strong> (1:01.70) closed out the top eight.<\/p>\n
That’s a personal best for DiRado with her first sub-1:01 swim.<\/p>\n
Swimming in a surprisingly loaded B final, Sweden’s Sarah Sjostrom<\/strong> powered her way to a 1:00.49 to win the consolation heat. \u00a0California’s Natalie Coughlin<\/strong> took second in 1:00.61 with California’s Amy Bilquist<\/strong> snaring third in 1:01.02.<\/p>\n

Men’s 100 back<\/strong><\/p>\n
Following an equipment malfunction delay, Tucson Ford’s Matt Grevers<\/strong> stretched his way to victory in the men’s 100-meter back at the 2016 Arena Pro Swim Series Austin.<\/p>\n
Grevers, who has the advantage of being 6-8, touched out the rest of the field in a time of 53.35.<\/p>\n
That’s just off the top January time ever set by Ryosuke Irie<\/strong> with a 53.15 from the BHP Aquatic Super Series, and just off Grevers’ January career best of 52.37 from this meet last year.<\/p>\n
Ryan Murphy<\/strong>, who won the 200 back earlier this weekend<\/a>, took second in 53.46, while NYAC’s David Plummer<\/strong> placed third in 53.50.<\/p>\n
Club Wolverine’s Junya Koga<\/strong> (53.97), NYAC’s Arkady Vyatchanin<\/strong> (54.33), SwimMAC’s Tyler Clary<\/strong> (55.10), St. Thomas’ Rex Tullius<\/strong> (55.57) and N.C. State’s Hennessey Stuart<\/strong> (55.75) finished fourth through eighth.<\/p>\n
Jacob Pebley<\/strong> posted a 55.01 to win the B final. Club Wolverine’s Bobby Hurley<\/strong> finished second in 55.69 with Eugene Godsoe<\/strong> placing third in 55.79.<\/p>\n

Women’s 200 IM<\/strong><\/p>\n
Hungary’s Katinka Hosszu<\/strong> doubled up with a win in the women’s 200-meter IM at the 2016 Arena Pro Swim Series Austin.<\/p>\n
Hosszu posted a winning time of 2:10.69, which would have ranked her ninth in the world last year if not for her world-record setting time of 2:06.12.<\/p>\n
Hosszu still missed the January record for the 200 IM of 2:09.67 set by Ye Shiwen<\/strong> at the 2013 BHP Super Series event.<\/p>\n
Saint Petersburg’s Melanie Margalis<\/strong> closed fast with a second-place time of 2:12.67, while Aggie’s Sarah Henry<\/strong> earned third in 2:12.77.<\/p>\n
SwimMAC’s Kirsty Coventry<\/strong> (2:12.86), Texas A&M’s Sydney Pickrem<\/strong> (2:14.04), Texas’ Madisyn Cox<\/strong> (2:14.05), California’s Caitlin Leverenz<\/strong> (2:14.27) and Great Britain’s Georgia Coates<\/strong> (2:15.50) also competed in the finale.<\/p>\n
Lakeside’s Brooke Forde<\/strong> topped the B final in a time of 2:15.04. \u00a0California’s Celina Li<\/strong> (2:15.50) and Kelly Naze<\/strong> (2:15.72) placed second and third.<\/p>\n

NBAC’s Michael Phelps<\/strong> scorched the pool with yet another January career best with a win in the men’s 200-meter IM at the 2016 Arena Pro Swim Series Austin.<\/p>\n
Phelps, who slipped by SwimMAC’s Ryan Lochte<\/strong> down the last 50, put up a 1:58.00 for the win.<\/p>\n
That swim broke Phelps’ January best of 1:58.52 from this meet back in 2012.<\/p>\n
Lochte, meanwhile, cranked out a 1:58.43 to lower his own January career best. \u00a0Lochte previously had a 1:58.57 at the 2015 BHP Aquatic Super Series.<\/p>\n
That’s Phelps first win against Lochte in a 200 IM since the 2012 London Olympics.<\/p>\n
