Sweden\u2019s Sarah Sjostrom<\/strong> blasted her way to victory in the women\u2019s 50-meter free at the 2016 Arena Pro Swim Series Austin.<\/p>\n

Sjostrom nearly captured her third U.S. Open record with a 24.17. \u00a0That swim beat her third-ranked season best from last year of 24.20. \u00a0It nearly beat Cate Campbell\u2019s<\/strong> U.S. Open mark of 24.13 from 2008.<\/p>\n

SwimMAC\u2019s Madison Kennedy<\/strong> turned in a sizzling time of 24.72 for second, but looked slow compared to Sjostrom in the other lane.<\/p>\n

SwimMAC\u2019s Arianna Vanderpool-Wallace<\/strong> placed third overall with a time of 24.84.<\/p>\n

HPCO\u2019s Chantal Van Landeghem<\/strong> (24.92), Canyons\u2019 Abbey Weitzeil<\/strong> (24.93), California\u2019s Farida Osman<\/strong> (24.95), France\u2019s Anna Santamans<\/strong> (25.05) and HPCO\u2019s Sandrine Mainville<\/strong> (25.47) placed fourth through eighth.<\/p>\n

California\u2019s Natalie Coughlin<\/strong> won the B final in 25.19. Teammate Dana Vollmer<\/strong> took second in 25.24 with Sweden\u2019s Therese Alshammar<\/strong> earning third in 25.38.<\/p>\n
