Women’s 200 fly<\/strong><\/p>\n

SwimMAC’s Cammile Adams<\/strong> took the top seed in the morning with a 2:09.81. \u00a0She finished more than two seconds ahead of the rest of the field, and should have an easy time of it this evening.<\/p>\n

The big question is whether she can challenge her top January time ever, which happens to be the record for this month. \u00a0Here in Austin in 2012, she posted a sizzling 2:06.76.<\/p>\n

NCAP’s Cassidy Bayer<\/strong> turned in a second-seeded time of 2:11.99 with Kentucky’s Christina Bechtel<\/strong> taking third in 2:12.18.<\/p>\n

Chattahoochee Gold’s Lauren Case<\/strong> (2:12.32), Texas A&M’s Sarah Gibson<\/strong> (2:12.71), HPCO’s Audrey Lacroix<\/strong> (2:12.85), Razorback’s Taylor Pike<\/strong> (2:13.44) and Dakota Luther<\/strong> (2:13.49) rounded out the top eight.<\/p>\n

Hungary’s Katinka Hosszu<\/strong> shockingly failed to even make the top eight and is looking at swimming in the consolation heat after finishing ninth this morning with a 2:13.51.<\/p>\n

He will definitely face a challenge from Sweden’s Simon Sjodin<\/strong> tonight as Sjoding qualified second in 1:58.66.<\/p>\n
Singapore’s Zheng Wen Quah<\/strong> also cleared 2:00 with a third-place time of 1:59.44.<\/p>\n
HPCO’s Zack Chetrat<\/strong> (2:00.54), Andrew Seliskar<\/strong> (2:00.55), Great Britain’s Jay Lelliott<\/strong> (2:00.69), California’s Tom Shields<\/strong> (2:00.72) and Club Wolverine’s Michael Klueh<\/strong> (2:00.88) will also compete in the championship eight.<\/p>\n

SoFlo’s Alia Atkinson<\/strong> and SwimMAC’s Katie Meili<\/strong> turned up the heat this morning in the women’s 100-meter breaststroke.<\/p>\n
Atkinson clocked a top-seeded time of 1:07.38, while Meili posted a 1:07.92 for the second seed.<\/p>\n
Both finished in the top five last year with Meili ranking third with a 1:05.64, while Atkinson owned a 1:05.93 for fourth overall.<\/p>\n
The two will need those types of times to challenge the record for the top January swim ever. \u00a0Leisel Jones<\/strong> clocked a 1:05.71 at the 2006 Australian Commonwealth Games Trials for that time.<\/p>\n
NYAC’s Breeja Larson<\/strong> (1:08.45) and BlueFish’s Laura Sogar<\/strong> (1:08.64) qualified third and fourth.<\/p>\n
Tennessee’s Molly Hannis<\/strong> (1:08.72), Golden West’s Jessica Hardy<\/strong> (1:08.77), LASC’s Rachel Nicol<\/strong> (1:08.96) and Gator’s Hilda Luthersdottir<\/strong> (1:08.96) also qualified for the A final.<\/p>\n

Wilson might just have it in the tank to challenge the all time January record of 59.48 set by Adam Peaty<\/strong> at the 2015 Speedo Cup.<\/p>\n
Kevin Cordes<\/strong> qualified second in 1:00.87 with Missouri’s Sam Tierney<\/strong> posting a third-seeded 1:01.22.<\/p>\n

Hungary’s Katinka Hosszu<\/strong> (1:00.64) and Oakville’s Dominique Bouchard<\/strong> (1:00.89) qualified third and fourth, while California’s Kathleen Baker<\/strong> also cleared 1:01 with a fifth-seeded 1:00.94.<\/p>\n
Stanford’s Maya DiRado<\/strong> (1:01.12), California’s Rachel Bootsma<\/strong> (1:01.16) and Missouri’s Hannah Stevens<\/strong> (1:01.23) are also slated to compete in the finale.<\/p>\n
It’s doubtful that anyone will rival the top January swim ever of 58.89 clocked by Emily Seebohm<\/strong> at last year’s BHP Aquatic Super Series.<\/p>\n

Hosszu likely won’t have much competition tonight, but she will need to drop some major time to challenge the top January time ever of 2:09.67 set by Ye Shiwen<\/strong> back at the 2013 BHP Super Series event.<\/p>\n
Aggie’s Sarah Henry<\/strong> qualified second in 2:13.54 and will need to ratchet up the speed to catch Hosszu tonight.<\/p>\n
Texas’ Madisyn Cox<\/strong> (2:13.59), Texas A&M’s Sydney Pickrem<\/strong> (2:14.30), SwimMAC’s Kirsty Coventry<\/strong> (2:14.43), Saint Petersburg’s Melanie Margalis<\/strong> (2:14.63), NCAP’s Katie Ledecky<\/strong> (2:15.10) and Great Britain’s Georgia Coates<\/strong> (2:15.22) also made the finale.<\/p>\n

Phelps has been beating all of his January career bests this week, and has a shot at another one tonight. \u00a0His best time ever in January came in 2012 at this meet with a 1:58.52.<\/p>\n
Phelps should cut some time tonight, but the question is whether he can cut that much.<\/p>\n
Andrew Seliskar<\/strong> cruised into second overall with a 2:02.47, while Josh Prenot<\/strong> placed third out of the morning heats with a 2:02.59.<\/p>\n
Gator’s Dan Wallace<\/strong> qualified fourth in 2:02.78 with Wisconsin’s Michael Weiss<\/strong> snaring fifth in 2:02.83.<\/p>\n
SwimMAC’s Ryan Lochte<\/strong>, who had a strong 400 IM last night<\/a>, posted a sixth-seeded time in 2:03.06.<\/p>\n
