Original 100 fly report:<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Greatest of All Time Michael Phelps<\/strong> bested a loaded field in the men\u2019s 100-meter fly at the 2016 Arena Pro Swim Series Austin.<\/p>\n

Phelps powered his way past the field with a strong back half to win the finale in 51.94. \u00a0That\u2019s well off his top-ranked time of 50.45 from last summer\u2019s U.S. Nationals, but is easily his best time in January in his career.<\/p>\n

Phelps\u2019 previous best time in January occurred in 2012 here in Austin with a 52.41.<\/p>\n

California\u2019s Tom Shields<\/strong> took second overall in 52.39, off his fifth-ranked 51.03 from last summer.<\/p>\n

SwimMAC\u2019s Tim Phillips<\/strong> placed third in 52.61 with Phoenix\u2019s Giles Smith<\/strong> missing the podium with a 52.70.<\/p>\n

SwimMAC\u2019s Ryan Lochte<\/strong> (52.73), SwimMAC\u2019s Matt Josa<\/strong> (52.84), Sweden\u2019s Simon Sjodin<\/strong> (53.31) and Singapore\u2019s Zheng Wen Quah<\/strong> (53.33) placed fifth through eighth.<\/p>\n

Texas\u2019 Jack Conger<\/strong> won the B final in a time of 52.72. Santa Clara\u2019s Kyler Van Swol<\/strong> placed second in 53.38.<\/p>\n
