ZIMBABWE&#39;s Kirsty Coventry dipped under 58 for the first time in the women&#39;s 100 back to lead the semifinal round of the FINA World Short Course Championships.<\/p>\n<p>Coventry clocked a time of 57.99 during the second heat to smash her previous record time of 58.41 set during prelims.  The performance also eclipsed the championship record of 58.02 set by last meet&#39;s champ Janine Pietsch of Germany in 2006.<\/p>\n<p>A pair of Australians picked up the next two qualifying spots as Rachel Goh touched in 58.10 and Belinda Hocking took third in 58.18.  Both times cracked the Australian record of 58.27 set by Tayliah Zimmer from 2006.<\/p>\n<p>Ukraine&#39;s Kate Zubkova qualified fourth with a time of 58.23, crushing her previous national record of 58.42 from 2006, while Israel&#39;s Anna Gostomelsky finished fifth in 58.43, also lowering her national record of 58.72 set last December.<\/p>\n<p>Great Britain&#39;s Elizabeth Simmonds (58.45), Margaret Hoelzer of the U.S. (58.49) and Croatia&#39;s Sanja Jovanovic (58.57) rounded out the championship heat.<\/p>\n<p><a href=http:\/\/65.110.72.225\/SPIPDF\/040908wscmw100backsf.pdf target=_blank>Event Results<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Viewers from the United States, click here to watch all the races at WCSN.com for FREE.
