{"id":177203,"date":"2016-01-14T09:09:08","date_gmt":"2016-01-14T16:09:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/?p=177203"},"modified":"2016-01-14T09:09:08","modified_gmt":"2016-01-14T16:09:08","slug":"bisp-swimmer-chantal-medals-at-singapore-championships","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/bisp-swimmer-chantal-medals-at-singapore-championships\/","title":{"rendered":"BISP Swimmer Chantal Liew Medals at Singapore Championships"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>At the 5th Singapore National Short Course Championships held over the holidays, BISP JSA Swim Academy member and Year 13 student <strong>Chantal Liew<\/strong> was in promising form in her hometown, breaking the Academy 50m Back Record on Day 1 by swimming 29.22, placing 2nd, whilst also racing the 800m Free, also placing second in a new PB of 9:01.07.<\/p>\n<p>Chantal then swam two fantastic races on the final day of competition, winning two silvers in the process and breaking two more Academy records. First up, she blasted a 1min 02.55 in the 100m Backstroke to break the old record by almost 0.5 of a second, and then followed this up with a 5 second drop in the 400m Freestyle posting a 4min 23.32.<\/p>\n<p>Liew said, \u201cRacing short course is always a great way to end of the year. Coming into this meet I didn&#8217;t really have that much pressure but I definitely surprised myself by going sub 29.5 and sub 1.03 in the 50 and 100 back. Its definitely a good indicator of what I could and should be going long course.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhile my 800 free did fall slightly below expectation, it also shows me what I need to work on back at training.
