She will be joining Jamaican Olympian <\/span><b>Alia Atkinson <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">and U.S. Olympian and gold medalist <\/span><b>Claire Donahue. <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In a release from the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/southfloridaaquaticclub.wordpress.com\/2016\/01\/09\/u-s-olympic-hopeful-megan-romano-joins-south-florida-aquatic-clubs-proflo-group\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">South Florida Aquatics Club\u2019s blog<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, <\/span><b>Romano <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">remarks that she feels \u201c<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">better in the water than I have in a long time\u201d and is aiming to make a spot on the Olympic team. In 2012, <\/span><b>Romano <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">missed the Olympic team by one spot, finishing seventh in the finals of the women\u2019s 200 freestyle to miss a relay berth. Called by <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Forbes <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cundoubtedly the most dominant female swimmer in the sport today,\u201d <\/span><b>Ledecky <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">was included on the list along with basketball star <\/span><b>Steph Curry <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">and 14-year old baseball prodigy <\/span><b>Mo\u2019one Davis<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. The distance phenom was<\/span> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">was just one of only four teenagers who were named to the list. An Olympic gold medalist from the 2012 London Games and current world record holder in three events, <\/span><b>Ledecky<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> became the first woman to sweep the 200, 400, 800, and 1,500 freestyles in a world championship while also winning four individual gold medals this past summer. Bick<\/p><\/div>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This week saw the venerable <\/span><b>Bob Duenkel<\/b> <a href=\"http:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/bob-duenkel-retires-from-international-swimming-hall-of-fame\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">retire as Executive Director of the International Swimming Hall of Fame<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. <\/span><b>Duenkel <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">had spent an amazing 40 years serving with the institution. <\/span><b>Duenkel <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">began his journey with swimming at the YMCA of New Jersey, where he developed into a state record holder by 1960. Graduating from Kansas State University as a multiple school record holder with a Bachelor of Science and a Masters of Physical Education, <\/span><b>Duenkel <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">moved to South Florida and joined with ISHOF full-time in 1976. In addition to running the Hall of Fame, <\/span><b>Duenkel <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">and his wife Colette run Camp Chikopi, the World\u2019s first swim camp founded US Olympic Swim Coach Matt Mann II in 1920. Over the years <\/span><b>Bob Duenkel <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">received numerous awards for his coaching, service, and outstanding contributions to the swimming community. On the first night of the multi-day meet <strong>l<\/strong><\/span><b>e Clos <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">took home wins in the <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/chad-le-clos-tops-50-fly-100-free-at-south-african-swimming-grand-prix-mpumalanga\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">50 butterfly and 100 freestyle<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, touching in 24.14 and 49.22 respectively. Notably, several teams continued their strong dual meet performances, with the NC State women coming away with a <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/176486-2\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">staggering <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">five <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">dual meet victories in two days<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/duke-remains-undefeated-with-win-over-south-carolina\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Duke downing South Carolina to remain undefeated<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, and the #1 ranked Virginia women taking down Notre Dame <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/176469-2\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">to keep a perfect record<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. Georgia senior <\/span><b>Hali Flickinger <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">had a strong performance in the <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/hali-flickinger-shines-as-georgia-splits-with-texas\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Bulldog\u2019s dual against Texas<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. <\/span><b>Flickinger<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> scored 27 points across three individual wins in the 200 freestyle (1:46.14), 200 butterfly (1:55.93) and 200 backstroke (1:53.23) to walk away as the top performer from the meet. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Bulldog women would win the meet to improve to 7-0, while the Georgia men fell to #1 ranked Longhorn men.
