The No. 1 ranked Virginia women won 243-105, while the No. 21 ranked Virginia men beat Notre Dame 182.5-170.5. The Cavaliers finished first in 13 events.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Women&#8217;s Meet<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Notre Dame won both of the women&#8217;s diving events, as <strong>Lindsay Sreepey<\/strong> took first in the 3m (322.95) and <strong>Emma Gaboury <\/strong>dove to first in the 1m (282.07). Virginia went 1-2 in the 200 free relay, 400 medley relay and 200 medley relay, while Notre Dame took the top spot in the 400 free relay. <strong>Jen Marrkand <\/strong>won the 200 fly by\u00a0over five\u00a0seconds, posting a time of 1:57.29. Virginia&#8217;s <strong>Laura Simon<\/strong> won both\u00a0the 100 breast (1:01.09) and 200 breast (2:13.45), and <strong>Ellen Thomas<\/strong> won the 50 free (23.27) and 100 free (49.84). <strong>Leah Smith<\/strong> won the 500 freestyle (4:39.75), 10 seconds ahead of the rest of the field. She later went on to win the 1000\u00a0(9:40.22) and 200 free (1:47.55). Virginia swept the top three spots in the women&#8217;s 200 IM, led by <strong>Courtney Bartholomew<\/strong> in 1:59.35. Bartholomew, less than one month after breaking the American record in the 100 SCM back at the Duel in the Pool, also won the 200 back (1:55.21) and the 100 back (53.07).<\/p>\n<p><strong>Men&#8217;s Meet<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The\u00a0Fighting Irish defeated the Cavaliers in\u00a0both the 200 and 400 free relays, as well as the 400 medley relay.\u00a0Virginia won the 200 medley relay. Freshman <strong>Sam Magnan<\/strong>\u00a0won the 500 free in 4:28.18 and the 1000 in 9:17.62. Virginia swept the men&#8217;s 100 breast, led by <strong>Murat Yildirim<\/strong> with a time of 56.23. Notre Dame&#8217;s <strong>Bogac Ayhan <\/strong>won the 100 back in 48.99 and <strong>Matthew Grauslys<\/strong> won the 100 fly (48.32) for the Fighting Irish. <strong>Austin Quinn<\/strong> was a triple-event winner for the Cavaliers, winning\u00a0the 200 IM (1:49.38), 200 back (1:46.98), and 200 free (1:38.87).<\/p>\n<p>Virginia returns to the pool on January 15 and 16 as they take on Towson and ACC rival Virginia Tech.
