FEDERAL WAY, Washington, March 29. ACCORDING to unnamed sources close to the situation, Cesar Cielo announced his intention to turn professional at the close of the 2008 NCAA Division I Men's Swimming and Diving Championships.<\/p>\n
Cielo, who was voted NCAA Swimmer of the Meet while becoming the first man to win the 50 and 100 free in two consecutive years since Matt Biondi did so in 1986-87, will forgo the final year of his eligibility at Auburn University.<\/p>\n
Cielo later confirmed his professional status in an interview with Swimming World<\/i> South American correspondent Alex Pussieldi, who blogged about the conversation on Bestswimming.com.br<\/b>.<\/p>\n
Cielo has signed a representation deal with Fernando Scherer to be his agent. Scherer is a two-time Olympic bronze medalist with a third-place in the 50 free in Atlanta and a third-place finish in Sydney as part of the 400 free relay.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
