The teams split results, with the men winning by a score of 180.5-119.5, while the women fell to the Panthers in a score of 188-111. The men won 12 of the 16 events contested, while the women won just four.<\/p>\n<h2>Men&#8217;s Meet:<\/h2>\n<p>The West Virginia Men put forth a dominating performance against the Pitt Panthers, going 1-2 or 1-2-3 in four events over the meet. The Mountaineer team of\u00a0<strong>Merwane Elmerini, Max Spencer, Daniel Rodriguez,\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0<strong>Frank Csonka<\/strong> started the meet off with a win in the 200 medley relay (1:32.18), which was followed by a second place finish in the 1000 by freshman <strong>Lucas Fasulo<\/strong> (9:38.65) and a win the 200 free by junior\u00a0<strong>Nate Carr<\/strong> (1:39.79). Senior\u00a0<strong>Andrew Marsh\u00a0<\/strong>took the 100 back (49.65), while seniors Spencer and\u00a0<strong>Aidan Fumagalli\u00a0<\/strong>went 1-2 in the 100 breast with times of 55.64 and 57.62, respectively.<\/p>\n<p>Senior\u00a0<strong>Chase Williams\u00a0<\/strong>took the 200 fly (1:52.21), which was quickly followed by a 1-2-3 finish by Csonka,\u00a0<strong>Ross Glegg<\/strong>, and Elmerini in the 50. Marsh went on to win the 100 free (45.56), after which Carr took the 200 back (1:50.33) and Spencer won the 200 breast (2:01.21), followed by Fumagalli (2:07.27). Marsh recorded a third individual win of the meet with the 100 fly (49.64), as did Carr with his victory in the 200 IM (1:50.91). A team of Marsh, Glegg, Elmerini, and Csonka rounded out the meet with a win in the 400 free relay (3:02.42).<\/p>\n<h2>Women&#8217;s Meet:<\/h2>\n<p>The Mountaineer women did not fare quite as well as the men, as they dropped their decision to the Panthers. The lone event winners of the meet were senior\u00a0<strong>Courtney Miller<\/strong>, who claimed the 100 back (57.08), senior\u00a0<strong>Lindsay Schmidt<\/strong> on the 3-meter board (301.13), senior\u00a0<strong>Natalie Johnsen<\/strong>, who took the 200 fly (2:07.62), and senior\u00a0<strong>Jaimee Gillmore\u00a0<\/strong>in the 50 (23.77).<\/p>\n<p>A handful of other West Virginia women took second and third in events, but ultimately fell to the Pitt women despite close races and strong efforts.<\/p>\n<p>The Mountaineers&#8217; next competition is January 16 against TCU.<\/p>\n<p>Full results <a href=\"\/results\/2016-west-virginia-vs-pitt\/ncaa-college\/2016\/January\/9\" target=\"_blank\">2016 West Virginia vs. Pitt &#8211; Results<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The West Virginia Mountaineers\u00a0hosted the Pitt Panthers at home in Morgantown, West Virginia on Saturday January 9 for the annual Backyard Brawl.
