The men competed in a 13 event format, swimming only the 200s of stroke.<\/p>\n<p>Despite winning both relays, Williams lost the meet 124-113.<\/p>\n<p>Williams got off to a quick start, as the team of <strong>Benjamin Lin<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Jake Tamposi<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Timothy Kostolansky<\/strong>, and\u00a0<strong>Nels Snyder\u00a0<\/strong>won the 400 medley relay in a time of 3:25.15. Amherst&#8217;s squad of <strong>Matt Heise<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Elijah Spiro<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Sam Spurrell<\/strong>, and\u00a0<strong>Vic Sun<\/strong>\u00a0swam a 3:27.99.<\/p>\n<p>Amherst&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Connor Haley\u00a0<\/strong>claimed the 1,000 in a time of 9:52.82. Williams&#8217;\u00a0<strong>Kenny Liu\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0<strong>Bobby Rowledge\u00a0<\/strong>finished second and third (9:56.19 and 10:00.49).<\/p>\n<p>Williams swimmers claimed first and second in the 200 freestyle.\u00a0<strong>Grant Johnson\u00a0<\/strong>swam a time of 1:43.97 and\u00a0<strong>Curtis Maher\u00a0<\/strong>was a 1:44.34.\u00a0<strong>Charlie Seltzer\u00a0<\/strong>was third in 1:45.32.<\/p>\n<p>Amherst fired back in the 50 freestyle, taking the top two spots.\u00a0<strong>Kaison Ilfill<\/strong> posted a swift 21.22 and\u00a0<strong>Alex Dreisbach\u00a0<\/strong>was just behind in a 21.41. The Eph&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Jamie Finnegan\u00a0<\/strong>finished third in a time of 21.63.<\/p>\n<p>The 200 IM was another huge event for Amherst as\u00a0<strong>Greg Han\u00a0<\/strong>lead a 1-2 finish with his time of 1:54.71.\u00a0<strong>Jeff Anderson\u00a0<\/strong>swam a 1:55.30.\u00a0<strong>Knox Young\u00a0<\/strong>posted a 1:56.04 for third place points.<\/p>\n<p>Amherst diver\u00a0<strong>Asher Lichtig\u00a0<\/strong>was impressive on both boards. The senior posted a score of 272.70 on the 1 meter and 309.23 on the 3 meter. On the 1 meter he was followed by Williams&#8217;\u00a0<strong>Andrew Lyness\u00a0<\/strong>with a score of 217.95 while his teammate <strong>Jake Meyer\u00a0<\/strong>posted a score of 141.00. Lyness scored a 177.23 on the 3 meter and Meyer was third with 129.60 points.<\/p>\n<p>Amherst swept the 200 butterfly. Spurrell swam a 1:54.70, just ahead of his teammate Anderson who posted a 1:54.71.\u00a0<strong>John Janezich\u00a0<\/strong>raced to a third place time of 1:56.53.<\/p>\n<p>Williams worked to change the momentum in the 100 freestyle. Lin won the event in a time of 46.24 while his teammate Finnegan was second in 47.03. Amherst&#8217;s Ilfill swam a 47.30 for third.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Matt Heise<\/strong>\u00a0scored important points for the Jeffs, winning the 200 backstroke in a time of 1:54.15. Williams took second and third as\u00a0<strong>Colin Hogan\u00a0<\/strong>and Lin swam a 1:54.67 and a 1:56.58.<\/p>\n<p>The top three in the 500 freestyle were separated by less than two seconds. Johnson and\u00a0<strong>Kevin Liu\u00a0<\/strong>went 1-2 for Williams (4:48.88 and 4:49.67) while Haley was third for Amherst (4:50.34).<\/p>\n<p>Han secured the meet for Amherst, winning the 200 breaststroke in a time of 2:05.50. After leading through the first 125 yards, Williams&#8217;\u00a0Tamposi took second in a 2:05.88. Amherst&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Josh Chen<\/strong> finished third with a time of 2:09.12.<\/p>\n<p>Williams&#8217; team of\u00a0<strong>Josh Hammond<\/strong>, Finnegan, Snyder, and Johnson closed out the meet with a 400 freestyle relay victory, finishing in a time of 3:08.30.
