The meet went down to the last race, as Duke won 144-139. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The Duke women did not have nearly as stressful of a meet as their male teammates. The Blue Devils outscored the Gamecocks 187-113. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Duke got off to a fast start, winning both the women\u2019s and men\u2019s 200-yard medley relay. The women\u2019s team of backstroker <\/span><b>Mickayla Hinkle, <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">breaststroker <\/span><b>Leah Goldman, <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">butterflier <\/span><b>Isabella Paez <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">and freestyler <\/span><b>Maddie Hess <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">posted a time of 1:41.47, winning by over half a second. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">In the men\u2019s event, Duke\u2019s team of backstroker <\/span><b>Kazuma Takabayashi, <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">breaststroker <\/span><b>Peter Kropp, <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">butterflier <\/span><b>David Armstrong <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">and freestyler <\/span><b>James Peek <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">won by nearly three seconds. The team posted a time of 1:27.77.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">South Carolina\u2019s <\/span><b>Nils Wich-Glasen <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">led all swimmers with 27 individual points. Wich-Glasen won the 100-yard breaststroke (54.74), 200-yard breaststroke (1:58.88) and 200-yard individual medley (1:49.93). He was also on the Gamecocks\u2019 second place 200-yard medley relay team. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Kersten Dirrane <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">of South Carolina scored 22 points, leading all women. The sophomore won both the 200-yard breaststroke (2:17.15) and 200-yard individual medley (2:05.84). She also finished second in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:04.13. <\/span><\/p>\n<p>The Duke men were led by Takabayashi and Peek, both of whom scored 18 points. Takabayashi won the 100-yard backstroke (49.05) and 100-yard butterfly (49.14), while Peek captured the 50-yard freestyle (20.14) and 100-yard freestyle (44.82) titles.<\/p>\n<p>Hinkle led the charge for the Duke women, scoring 18 individual points. The freshman won the 100-yard backstroke (55.69) and 200-yard backstroke (2:01.20).<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">After a 1-2 finish in the 200-yard individual medley, the South Carolina men held a five point lead going into the day\u2019s final race: the 400-yard freestyle relay. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Despite the Gamecocks\u2019 efforts, Duke relay teams took the top two spots in the 400-yard race. The winning team of<\/span> <span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Armstrong<\/span><b>, Dylan Payne, Michael Seaberg <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">and Peek posted a time of 2:59.91 to win the meet for the Blue Devils. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The South Carolina women are back in action on Jan. 16 when they take on Vanderbilt.
