COLUMBUS, Ohio, March 21. WHILE Arizona might not have snatched a fourth American record in four relay tries, the Wildcats still swept their fourth relay of the meet with an incredible run in the 800 free relay at the NCAA Division I Championships.<\/p>\n

The foursome of Justine Schluntz, Lacey Nymeyer, Leone Vorster and Taylor Baughman clocked an NCAA-meet record 6:58.69, which now stands as the second-fastest in the history of the event. Only Auburn's American record of 6:57.28 from the SEC Championships last month is faster.<\/p>\n

The win gave Arizona its fourth title in the event with wins coming in 1988 (7:10.79), 2000 (7:55.51\/SCM) and 2002 (7:05.10).<\/p>\n

Texas A&M's quartet of Christine Marshall, Kristen Heiss, Codie Hansen and Julia Wilkinson notched the third-quickest time in the event with a second-place 6:59.50, while California's contingent of Dana Vollmer, Lauren Boyle, Madison Kennedy and Emily Silver took third in 7:01.09.<\/p>\n

At the completion of the second day of competition, Arizona amassed a commanding 117-point lead with 361 points over Auburn's 244 as the Wildcats look to give Frank Busch and the program their first national title.<\/p>\n

Texas A&M continued to put together an incredible meet as the Aggies accumulated 227 points for third, while Stanford garnered 212 points for fourth. California completed the top five as the only other team over 200 points with 203 points.<\/p>\n

The rest of the top 10 finished as follows: Florida (178), Georgia (133), Tennessee (120), Indiana (110) and Michigan\/Washington (110).<\/p>\n
