The U.S. Masters Swimming Board of Directors has appointed USMS Education Director Bill Brenner<\/strong> interim CEO. Brenner, who has been with USMS since 2011, will be responsible for National Office daily operations while USMS continues its search for a new CEO. \u00a0December 31st was the last day for Rob Butcher<\/strong>, who resigned after serving 7 years as the USMS’s CEO in September to become the President and CEO of Swim Across America<\/a>,<\/p>\n

According to USMS’s website<\/a>:<\/p>\n

Brenner, as USMS’s Education Director, provided support to the more than 1,500 USMS registered clubs and workout groups nationwide and helped build new programs. He also worked closely with the USMS Coaches Committee to develop and administer the USMS Coach Certification<\/a>\u00a0program. Bill has worked with LMSCs and host clubs to bring the certification program to the membership at large.<\/p>\n

A graduate of the University of North Carolina<\/a>, with a bachelor of arts degree in chemistry, Bill has coached age group, collegiate, and Masters swimmers for the past 35 years. Prior to his club and coach services position, he operated a successful business and volunteered at both the local and national levels for USMS. Bill believes continuing education for coaches and recruitment of new coaches are critical to the continued success of the organization.<\/p>\n

He and his wife of 30 years, Pam, also a UNC alum, have four grown children. They\u2019re active at their alma mater and endow a swimming scholarship to the varsity program.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

“You should know that USMS leadership is in capable and caring hands. \u00a0I have complete confidence in Bill, and his staff, as he leads the headquarters in serving the USMS mission of providing opportunities for adults to swim.
