{"id":174943,"date":"2015-12-29T08:46:56","date_gmt":"2015-12-29T15:46:56","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/?p=174943"},"modified":"2015-12-29T08:46:56","modified_gmt":"2015-12-29T15:46:56","slug":"ranomi-kromowidjojo-scorches-50-free-indian-ocean-meet-record","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/ranomi-kromowidjojo-scorches-50-free-indian-ocean-meet-record\/","title":{"rendered":"Ranomi Kromowidjojo Scorches 50 Free Indian Ocean Meet Record"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Ranomi Kromowidjojo<\/strong> blazed her way to a meet record in the women&#8217;s 50-meter free at the short course Indian Ocean Meet.<\/p>\n<p>Kromowidjojo won the splash-and-dash with a time of 23.76, not too far off her sizzling 23.24 world record from the Duel in the Pool.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Femke Heemskerk<\/strong> finished second in 24.35 to move to 19th in the world rankings. \u00a0<strong>Zsuzsanna Jakabos<\/strong> placed third in 24.94.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Krisztian Takacs<\/strong> threw down a 21.65 to win the men&#8217;s 50-meter free. \u00a0<strong>Bradley Vincent<\/strong> took second in 22.18 with <strong>Lorys Bourelly<\/strong> earning third in 22.58.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Jan Sefl<\/strong> set a meet record in the men&#8217;s 200-meter fly with a time of 1:54.80. \u00a0That&#8217;s just a second off his 15th-ranked season best of 1:53.71 from the European Short Course Championships.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Anthony Pannier<\/strong> (2:04.74) and <strong>Mathieu Marquet<\/strong> (2:06.96) finished a distant second and third.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Zsuzsanna Jakabos<\/strong> touched out <strong>Lara Grangeon<\/strong>, 2:07.04 to 2:07.08, in the women&#8217;s 200-meter fly in one of the faster races of the day. \u00a0Jakabos is ranked 11th in the world with a 2:05.16 from the European Championships, while Grangeon is ranked 5th with a 2:03.85 from the same meet. \u00a0So, this ranks as a bit of an upset. \u00a0<strong>Barbora Zavadova<\/strong> took third in 2:14.67.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Simona Baumrtova<\/strong> tracked down the women&#8217;s 100-meter back crown in 58.69. \u00a0<strong>Femke Heemskerk<\/strong> took second on 58.71 in a close finish, while <strong>Barbora Zavadova<\/strong> finished third in 1:02.19.<\/p>\n<p>Baumrtova doubled up with a 1:00.78 to win the women&#8217;s 100-meter IM. \u00a0<strong>Ranomi Kromowidjojo<\/strong> took second in 1:00.88 with <strong>Alizee Morel<\/strong> placing third in 1:04.19.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Gabor Balog<\/strong> topped the men&#8217;s 100-meter back in 53.27. \u00a0<strong>Pierre-Yves Desprez<\/strong> placed second in 55.99 with <strong>Damien Delmotte<\/strong> taking third in 58.22.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Aurelie Muller<\/strong> claimed the women&#8217;s 400-meter free title in 4:14.04 with <strong>Martina Elhenicka<\/strong> taking second in 4:16.10. \u00a0<strong>Oceane Cassignol<\/strong> finished third in 4:17.60.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Ferry Weertman<\/strong> won the men&#8217;s 400-meter free in 3:46.85. \u00a0<strong>Benoit Debast<\/strong> took second in 3:49.50 with <strong>Marc-Antoine Olivier<\/strong> earning third in 3:50.11.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Martina Moravcikova<\/strong> captured the women&#8217;s 50-meter breast in 31.82. \u00a0<strong>Tessa Ip Hen Cheung<\/strong> finished well behind with a second-place 45.01, while <strong>Varuna Jasodanand<\/strong> took third in 35.26.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Mathieu Bachmann<\/strong> hit the wall in 29.28 to win the men&#8217;s 50-meter breast. \u00a0<strong>Nathan Mandere<\/strong> (29.38) and <strong>Olivier Ah Ching<\/strong> (29.41) took second and third in one of the closer races of the day.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Yannick Chatelain<\/strong> earned the men&#8217;s 100-meter IM title in 56.51. \u00a0<strong>Pierre-Yves Desprez<\/strong> took second in 57.29 with <strong>Mathieu Bachmann<\/strong> snaring third in 57.46.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"\/results\/2015-indian-ocean-day-2\/international-elite\/2015\/December\/28\" target=\"_blank\">2015 Indian Ocean: Day 2 &#8211; Results<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Ranomi Kromowidjojo blazed her way to a meet record in the women&#8217;s 50-meter free at the short course Indian Ocean Meet.
