In an interview with the <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.azcentral.com\/story\/sports\/college\/asu\/2015\/12\/24\/olympians-michael-phelps-allison-schmitt-embrace-move-arizona\/77860306\/?from=global&amp;sessionKey=&amp;autologin=\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Arizona Republic<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, <\/span><b>Phelps <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">has committed to joining the ASU coaching staff\u00a0under <\/span><b>Bob Bowman <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">for the 2016-2017 season. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The interview also features fellow Olympian and teammate <\/span><b>Allison Schmitt, <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">who has committed to staying in Tempe following 2016 to complete a master\u2019s degree in psychology (there is no mention of her retiring like her teammate <\/span><b>Phelps<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">). <\/span><b>Schmitt, <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">who has been open about her own battle with depression following the 2012 London Games, hopes to use the degree to continue to help others battle the same mental struggles she has endured. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Speaking of his two star athletes, <\/span><b>Bowman <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">remarks th<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">at &#8220;They&#8217;ve gone through some really hard times. It&#8217;s been a total life change (in Arizona). The group we have is very good. The environment, staff, obviously the weather and the facility and being part of what&#8217;s going on at ASU.
