FEDERAL WAY, Washington, March 6. ONE of Washington's favorite daughters, Megan Jendrick, put on a show during the second night of long course competition at the USA Swimming Sectionals held in Federal Way, Wash.<\/p>\n
Jendrick, representing King Aquatics, opened the evening with a winning effort of 56.49 in the women's 100 free, as she touched out Traycie Swartz of Brophy East. Swartz picked up second place with a time of 56.54.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, Jendrick downed teammate Svet Karpeeva in Jendrick's realm of the 200 breaststroke. She wound up with the victory when she stopped the clock in 2:28.89. Karpeeva ended up with second in 2:31.31.<\/p>\n
Jendrick then helped King Aquatics win the 200 medley relay as the second leg when the team of Leona Jennings, Jendrick, Heather Brand and Andie Taylor turned in a 1:56.04.<\/p>\n
In other action, Morgon Henderson-Kunz, 17, of Tualatin Hills easily won the men's 100 free in 50.47, while Sam Rowan, 16, of Eugene City Swimming also had an easy win with a 2:22.05 in the men's 200 breast.<\/p>\n
In the 200 backstroke events, Bonnie Brandon, 14, of Mission Aurora emerged from a youngster battle with 14-year-old Amber McDermott of Salmon Bay Aquatics. Brandon hit the wall in 2:17.95, while McDermott earned second in 2:18.04. For the men, Alex Lendrum, 16, of Brophy East pocketed the 200 back title in 2:03.94.<\/p>\n
Taylor, 16, of King Aquatics then won a shoot out in the women's 200 fly over Whitney Lopus, 17, of Brophy East in a 2:11.66 to 2:11.83 for the triumph. Tyler Pennington, 17, of Scottsdale snagged the men's side of the 200 fly with a time of 2:06.84.<\/p>\n
Brophy East closed the night with a win in the men's 200 medley relay when Lendrum, Austen Thompson, John Wojciechowski and Kohei Kawamoto registered a 1:48.10.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
