BRUNSWICK, Maine, March 4. FOR the first time in six years, McAuley was crowned state champion at the Maine Women's Class B State Championships.<\/p>\n
McAuley edged Greely by a 273-268 final. Falmouth compiled 253 points and took third.<\/p>\n
Falmouth, who was armed with two double event winners, corralled wins in two relays. The 200 medley relay quartet of Alicia Hahn, Kristin Jackson, Allison Miller and Sarah Tozier demolished the medley relay competitors, clinching the first-place spot with a 1:55.87 time. Adrianne Madden, Tozier, Miller and Sarah Uminski teamed up in the 200 freestyle relay, clocking a gold-medal standard of 1:46.44. Falmouth's 400 freestyle relay, which was a favorite to come home with the event title, disqualified in the preliminary heats.<\/p>\n
Hahn came out with two wins in each of her individual events. She nabbed a first-place finish in the 100 freestyle (54.93) as well as in the 100 backstroke (59.83). <\/p>\n
Jackson unearthed a state record when she pounded the wall at the end of the 200 IM (2:07.45). Jackson's time bettered Taylor McFarlane of Cape Elizabeth's state mark of 2:07.64, which she set in 2003. She placed first again in the 100 breaststroke, clocking in with a 1:07.68 time.<\/p>\n
McAuley's Kristen Desrosiers paced the field in the 200 freestyle and 500 freestyle events, winning each in respective times of 1:59.02 and 5:23.25.<\/p>\n
Jessica Howard of Greely reached the podium's zenith with a 313.50 score in the diving event. Sarah Kaminow of North Yarmouth placed second in the event with a 302.90 score while Mae Speight of Mount Desert Island ended up in third (272.05).<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
