AT the conclusion of the men&#39;s Maryland Interscholastic Athletic Association meet, Loyola found itself on the winning end of yet another state championship.<\/p>\n<p>Loyola, who has won the past 14 MIAA titles, won in its typical fashion by blowing away the field by more than 100 points with a final tally of 365. McDonough, the meet&#39;s host, placed second (248) while Calvert Hall came in third (244).<\/p>\n<p>Loyola rattled out wins in the 200 medley relay (Greg Pelton, Sean Roddy, Evan Danz and Hugh Davison) with a time of 1:36.04 and the 400 freestyle relay (Davison, Danz, Oliver Bennett and Pelton) in 3:09.26 clocking.<\/p>\n<p>Austin Surhoff of Saint Paul&#39;s, who earlier this season broke a Michael Phelps age group state record in the 200 backstroke, rattled off two wins. Surhoff started out by coasting to a 1:52.16 200 IM and then continued on to win in his prime stroke, clocking a 51.16 100 backstroke. Surhoff was the only athlete to emerge victorious in two events.<\/p>\n<p>The MIAA is comprised of 28 private high schools located in or around the Baltimore metropolitan area. The Maryland Public Secondary Schools Athletic Association (MPSSAA) governs the public high schools in the state of Maryland.
