THE University of Georgia women's swimming and diving program accomplished enough during the past two weeks to earn the three first place votes they were missing in the last dual meet poll conducted by the College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA). Their victories over Alabama (186-109) and South Carolina (185-109) were impressive enough to make the Lady Bulldogs a unanimous number one this week.

The biggest jump in this poll came from the Princeton Tigers. They have moved into the rankings at eighteenth after not previously having been in the top twenty-five. The men's poll has a new sheriff. After a tremendous victory over the then top ranked Texas Longhorns (200.5-152.5) the Arizona Wildcats are the new unanimous choice as the number one team in the CSCAA poll. Aside from the Wildcats, other notable rankings include the Southern Methodist Mustangs jumping two spots to nineteenth and the Arizona State Sun Devils moving to twenty-fifth after not being ranked in the previous poll.

In other notes of significance, the Indiana men are ranked sixth which is their highest ranking since the days of legendary coach Doc Councilman. Additionally, this is the first poll in several years in which neither the men's or women's team from the University of Southern California is ranked.

This year's poll will be published eight times and the champions will be crowned on February 27, 2008. Pollsters representing eight conferences along with two at-large voters have the task of ranking the top dual meet teams in the nation bi-weekly throughout the season. Additionally, the group of pollsters is completely different for the men's and women's rankings. This poll should not be confused with the results of the NCAA Division I Swimming & Diving championships that will take place in March.

Special thanks to the CSCAA for contributing this report.

Women
Rank Team Record Points Previous
1 Georgia (10) 10-0 300 1
2 Stanford 6-1 290 2
3 Florida 10-1 276 3
4 Arizona 9-1 269 4
5 Auburn 6-1 259 5
6 Texas A&M 9-1 256 6
7 Tennessee 5-3 239 7
8 California 5-1 231 8
9 Minnesota 7-1 220 9
10 Virginia 8-2 209 10
11 Michigan 6-1 198 11
12 Penn State 11-0 184 13
13 North Carolina 3-3 183 12
14 SMU 5-3 170 14
15 UCLA 5-3 163 15
16 Arizona State 9-4 139 16
17 Louisiana State 8-3 127 18
18 Princeton 8-0 127 NR
19 Texas 1-4 126 17
20 Wisconsin 8-1 116 20
21 Indiana 2-5 106 19
22 Missouri 13-1 87 21
23 Florida State 16-3 83 22
24 Virginia Tech 14-2 74 23 (tie)
25 Washington 10-4 70 23 (tie)
OTHERS RECEIVING VOTES: Southern California 42, Arkansas 38, Kentucky 29, Northwestern 24, Kansas 13, Brigham Young 3
DROPPED FROM RANKINGS: None

Men
Rank Team Record Points Previous
1 Arizona 8-0 300 2
2 Texas 8-1 290 1
3 Stanford 4-1 277 3
4 Michigan 10-1 273 4
5 Auburn 4-2 260 5
6 Indiana 5-3 241 7
7 Florida 10-2 238 6
8 Tennessee 7-2 235 9
9 Minnesota 6-1 226 8
10 Georgia 6-2 206 10
11 California 5-1 198 11
12 Purdue 7-4 193 12
13 Ohio State 10-1 183 13
14 North Carolina 6-2 170 14
15 Virginia 4-3 159 15
16 Penn State 8-4 152 16
17 Louisiana State 6-3 138 17
18 Northwestern 7-6 117 18
19 SMU 6-2 116 21
20 Texas A&M 2-6 115 20
21 Missouri 11-2 98 19
22 Harvard 9-0 94 22
23 Louisville 5-2 86 23
24 Santa Barbara 9-1 70 24 (tie)
25 Arizona State 3-5 51 NR
OTHERS RECEIVING VOTES: Brigham Young 49, Southern California 44, Princeton 13, Virginia Tech 12, Clemson 11, Wisconsin 10, Notre Dame 9, Washington 9, Missouri State 5, Florida State 4
DROPPED FROM RANKINGS: Brigham Young (24, tie)

PHOENIX, Arizona, February 15.
