ATLANTA, Georgia, February 20. GREATER Atlanta Christian and Marist walked away with state titles at the Georgia 1-4A High School State Championships. On the boys' side, Greater Atlanta Christian tallied 270 points for first followed by Wesleyan (264) and Westminster (248). Meanwhile, the Marist girls won with 325 points while Westminster took second (277.50) and Greater Atlanta Christian placed third (198.50).<\/p>\n
Boys Results <\/b>
\nWesleyan won two of three relays. Nick Salyers, Will Gregory, Michael Reynolds, and Antohony McMurry won the 200 medley relay with a time of 1:35.34.<\/p>\n
Senior Will Freeman (Greater Atlanta Christian) won the distances races. He clocked times of 1:42.12 (200 freestyle) and 4:30.30 (500 freestyle).
\nMcIntosh's Jack Beall was a dual event winner in the 100 butterfly (50.42) and the 100 backstroke (51.90).<\/p>\n
Timothy Marsh, Andrew Sunderman, Chase Bartlett, and Gregory finished first in the 200 freestyle relay (1:26.85).<\/p>\n
Doug Reynolds (Loganville) had individual wins in the 50 (21.06) and 100 (45.74) freestyles.<\/p>\n
Top finishers in the diving competition include Zach Hernandez (Wesleyan) (467.65), David Zarb (Oconee County) (428.65), and Josh Hart (Allatoona) (428.45).<\/p>\n
Wesley Pate of Greater Atlanta Christian won the 200 IM in 1:54.58. He teamed up with Dj Boutte', Chase Flint, and Freeman for a win in the 400 freestyle relay (3:10.19).<\/p>\n
Girls Results<\/b>
\nWestminster won two of three relays. Katherine Kerman, Jamie Christy, Nicole Stafford, and Taylor Ayres won the 200 medley relay (1:46.93). Stafford was a dual event winner in the 100 butterfly (54.70) and the 100 backstroke (55.58).<\/p>\n
Sequoyah's Taylor Roy had individual wins in the 200 (1:49.51) and 500 (4:52.41) freestyles.<\/p>\n
Lauren Hall (Wesleyan) won the diving competition with a score of 481.90. Andrea Demick (Marist) and Gaffney Taylor (St. Pius X) followed with scores of 473.70 and 453.60, respectively. <\/p>\n
Marist won the 200 freestyle relay (1:37.58). Elizabeth Pitts, Katherine Daniels, Elise Breaux, and Meredith Nakano contributed to the win.<\/p>\n
Other first-place finishers include Haley Durmer (St. Pius X) in the 200 IM (2:04.66), Rachel Astles (Westminster) in the 50 freestyle (24.29), Patricia Forrester (Calvary Day) in the 100 freestyle (51.91), and Ariana Berg (McIntosh) in the 100 breaststroke (1:04.00).<\/p>\n
Astles, Kerman, Lilly Nunnally, and Stafford closed the meet with a win in the 400 freestyle relay (3:32.45).<\/p>\n
