PHOENIX, Arizona, February 6. THE Wednesday edition of The Morning Swim Show<\/i> begins with a commentary by host Brent Rutemiller regarding the news that Omega is working to get a new starting block approved by FINA in time to install them in the Water Cube for the Beijing Olympics. <\/p>\n

In "Reaction Time," Swimming World Magazine<\/i> senior writer John Lohn and Rutemiller analyze Lohn's's predictions for the women's 200 butterfly race in Beijing. Those looking for an upset similar to Misty Hyman's thrilling win in 2000 will be disappointed, Lohn said, noting that the reigning world champion and current world record holder will be the top swimmers expected to battle for gold.<\/p>\n

Wednesday's "For the Record" segment focuses on the history of blacks in swimming fro the days of slavery to the present-day, and how the stigma of swimming in black communities continues 40 years after the civil rights movement. International Swimming Hall of Fame CEO Bruce Wigo talks about an upcoming presentation that will highlight many accomplishments. The segment continues with an interview with former American record holder Sabir Muhammad, the first black swimmer to win a medal at a World Championships.<\/p>\n
