OXFORD, Ohio, February 2. THE Eastern Michigan University men's and women's swimming and diving teams both defeated Miami University in Mid-American Conference action. The men's team won its 50th consecutive MAC dual meet, defeating the RedHawks 191.5-108.5. The women's team came away with a 159-141 victory.<\/p>\n
With the win, the men's team improves to \u00ad\u00ad\u00ad6-3 overall and 3-0 in MAC action. The 200 medley relay team of Andrzej Olesinski, Adam Wohl, Ryan Fulkerson and Derick Roe won the first event on the day for EMU. Olesinski came away with a victory in the 100 backstroke and 100 butterfly, with Fulkerson capturing the 200 butterfly. Don Ellison won both the 100 and 200 breaststroke, with Mark Kurtzer coming away with a win in the 200 backstroke.<\/p>\n
Roe won both the 50 and 100 freestyle races on the afternoon, with Ellison adding another win in the 200 IM. The Eagles ended the day with the 400 freestyle relay team of Ethan Crabtree, Olesinski, Michael Rowland and Roe coming away with a win.<\/p>\n
On the women's side, the Eagles improved to 9-3 overall and 5-2 in MAC action. The Eagles dropped the first two events before senior Madeleine Pilchard won the 200 freestyle, with Hannah Burandt taking second. Sheila Carson won the 100 breaststroke, while Leeza Moser took the 200 butterfly.<\/p>\n
Pilchard won her second race of the day when she won the 50 freestyle. Catherine Lee Ha took the 100 freestyle and Ashley Durand won the 200 breaststroke. Pilchard won her third individual event of the day when she took the 500 freestyle. Becky Renkola won both the one-meter and three-meter dives on the afternoon for the Green and White. EMU's 800 freestyle relay team of Lee Ha, Burandt, Ricard and Pilchard won the final event of the day.<\/p>\n
