GENEVA, Switzerland, January 20. THE final day of swimming at the Geneva International held in Switzerland, featuring many of the worlds top junior teamers, produced several meet records.<\/p>\n
Tom Haffield scored a meet record in the men's 400 IM with a time of 4:23.34. He surpassed his own meet standard of 4:24.32 set in 2004.<\/p>\n
Kerry Buchan touched out Chelsey Salli, 1:11.03 to 1:11.50, for the open women's 100 breast title. Elise Matthysen, however, beat Canadian Amanda Reason, 1:10.56 to 1:10.75, in the 15-16 age division for the overall top times in the event.<\/p>\n
Similar to the women's 100 breast, James Kirton snared the open men's 100 breast crown in 1:07.18. The 17-18 age division, however, had the stronger performances as Fabian Ley (1:05.70), Markus Deibler (1:05.82) and Curtis Lutsch (1:06.84) posted quick times.<\/p>\n
Christin Zenner took home the women's 100 back title with a time of 1:04.08, while Sinead Russel of Canada touched out teammate Lindsay Seemann, 1:04.31 to 1:04.37, for the 15-16 age division win.<\/p>\n
Next, Jonathan Massacand grabbed the men's 100 back in 57.57, while Matthew Swanston picked up the 17-18 age division in 58.37.<\/p>\n
In the 50 fly, Kimberly Buys held off Bridget O'Connor, 27.79 to 27.89, for the women's title, while Igor Marchenko upended Martin Verner, 25.06 to 25.17, in the men's race.<\/p>\n
The splash-and-dash 50 frees ended the meet. Lisa Vitting edged the meet record in the women's race with a 26.42, which cleared the 26.44 set by Federica Pellegrini in 2004. Charles Turner then touched in 23.32 to win the men's title.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
