Toledo, OH \u2013 The University of Toledo women's swimming and diving team beat Notre Dame on Saturday, 158.5-141.5, at the UT Student Recreation Center. The Rockets got five new records in the meet and push their record to 10-2 overall and 5-0 in the MAC.<\/p>\n
"Notre Dame is an excellent program," Head Coach Lars Jorgensen said. "This is the biggest dual-meet win in school history. We were very competitive and swam well. I am excited for the girls."<\/p>\n
Sophomore Megan Reissig broke two records in the 200 backstroke and the 200 IM. In the backstroke, Reissig broke her own pool record with a time of 2:02.54. Then in the 200 IM she came in at 2:03.21, breaking her own school record of 2:04.27 that she made in November. Reissig also finished second in the 100 backstroke with a time of 57.07.<\/p>\n
Breaking a pool record that has stood since 2005 was freshman Jacy Dyer, coming in at 10:07.55 in the 1000 freestyle. Then in the 200 medley relay, the team of Reissig, junior Kylie Gamelier, freshman Amanda Thompson and senior Leah Woodard broke the school record with a time of 1:4106.<\/p>\n
"This was a great team effort from top to bottom," Jorgensen said. "Our divers performed well today."<\/p>\n
The Rocket divers finished in the top-four in both the one-meter and three-meter. In the three-meter board senior Megan McKinley broke the school record the stood since 1997 with a point total of 310.27. Coming in behind her in second was senior Jill Reighard with 265.50 points and freshman Brittany Teneyck with 247.80 and tied for third. Then in the one-meter Reighard finished first with a point total of 275.32, followed by McKinley in second (273.75) and Teneyck in fourth (260.10).<\/p>\n
Also coming in first for the Rockets was senior Leah Woodard in the 50 freestyle and 100 freestyle with times of 23.48 and 51.18, respectively. Then in the 200 freestyle relay the team of freshman Katie White, Woodard, seniors Liz Hinkleman and Brittany Dominique came in with a time of1:35.40.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
