MULHOUSE, France, January 19. IN the first session in which titles were up for grabs, Ben Stasiulis completed a title trifecta at the French Cup held in Mulhouse.<\/p>\n
Aurore Mongel claimed the women's 50 free in a close finish with prelim top qualifier Elodie Schmitt. Mongel hit the wall in 26.25, while Schmitt took second in 26.37. Mongel, however, settled for second in the women's 200 free with a time of 2:01.51. Camille Muffat had too much for Mongel as she claimed the title in 2:00.54.<\/p>\n
In the 50 back, Alison Leger touched out Margot Monousseau, 30.52 to 30.65, for the victory, while Muffat earned her second victory with a 2:20.33 in the women's 200 back. She held off Charlotte Bourigault, who took second in 2:20.82.<\/p>\n
Sophie De Ronchi cruised in the women's 50 breast en route to winning in 32.88, while Adeline Martin beat out Ingrid Sabourin, 1:14.28 to 1:14.66, for the women's 100 breast title.<\/p>\n
In another close finish, Diane Bui Duyet knocked off Melanie Henique, 27.89 to 27.98, in the women's 50 fly, while also taking home the 100 fly with a much more comfortable margin of victory in 1:00.82.<\/p>\n
Martin added the 400 IM to her 100 breast crown with a time of 5:02.14 to round out women's competition.<\/p>\n
Ben Stasiulis stopped the clock in 23.38 to win the men's 50 free, while Amaury Leveaux scorched the competition in the men's 100 free with a 49.80 \u2013 the only sub-51 time of the race. Leveaux also snared the 400 free to show some range when he hit the wall in 3:54.89, crushing the field.<\/p>\n
Stasiulis picked up another sprint title, this time with a 26.22 to 26.77 victory over Jeremy Stravius in the men's 50 back. Stasiulis followed that up with a third triumph when he clocked a 56.48 in the men's 100 back.<\/p>\n
Hugues Duboscq pocketed a close win with a 28.63 to 28.96 conquest of Malik Fall in the men's 50 breast, while also adding the 200 breast title to his coffer with a 2:16.04.<\/p>\n
In the 50 fly, Aghiles Slimani touched out Pierre Tortereau, 25.62 to 25.73, to grab the win, while also walking away with the 200 fly title in 2:06.79.<\/p>\n
Ahmed Mathlouthi captured an exciting victory over Clement Lefert, 2:06.04 to 2:06.85, in the men's 200 IM to finish out the night.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
