AUSTIN, Texas, January 12. CLOSING out the first SwimmingWorldMagazine.com<\/b> Meet of the Week of 2008, the Texas men upended Georgia, 157-135. Overall, the Longhorns claimed nine titles against Georgia's seven.<\/p>\n
Ricky Berens led the way for UT with three titles. He clocked a B-cut time to win the 200 free in 1:37.56, while also surfacing triumphant from the 500 free in 4:27.92. He also helped the 200 medley relay of Dan Rohleder (22.74), Matt Lowe (25.63), Berens (21.21) and Matt McGinnis (20.19) to a win in 1:29.77.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, Rohleder finished with a pair of titles. On top of the relay win, he posted a B-cut time of 48.57 in the 100 back.<\/p>\n
Lowe swept the breaststroke events en route to three crowns. With the medley relay already in his grasp, he claimed the 100 (55.61) and 200 (2:01.46) breaststroke events.<\/p>\n
Other winners for Texas included Michael Klueh in the 1000 free (9:01.89), Caleb McDermott in the 100 free (45.58) and McGinnis in the 200 back (1:47.37).<\/p>\n
Gil Stovall paced the Georgia attack. He recorded a B-cut time of 1:47.32 in the 200 fly, while also winning the 100 fly in 49.01. He also helped the 400 free relay of Nathan Bibliowicz (45.96), Stovall (45.10), Craig Jennings (45.67) and Martin Kata (46.10) to a win in 3:02.83.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, Chris Colwill swept the diving events with wins in the 1m (430.12) and 3m (459.29), while Jennings took home the 50 free crown (20.82) and Sebastien Rouault wound up with the 400 IM title (3:57.22) thanks to Klueh's swim of 3:56.97 being exhibitioned.<\/p>\n

\n"We got waxed. We swam a little ragged to be honest, but even if we had swam well we would have had a rough time. Texas is a really good team, and certainly to put a little pressure on Eddie, they have a viable shot this year. Even though it was a little bit rough, we still love coming down here to swim. It's a great facility, they are great people to be around and its always great competition, obviously. We were having a rough time, but we had a few bright spots with Gil Stovall in the fly and Chris Colwill in diving. They were tired and we were tired, but they were the better team."<\/p>\n

\n"The most important thing at this time of year with dual meets is to determine where you are in your training. We need to determine whether we're working some too hard or others not enough. But, if we're going to swim slow, it's better to go ahead and win. We improved on our turns and breakouts in the meets this weekend. We're more tired at this time of year than we have been."<\/p>\n
