WHAT has made the American women&#39;s water polo team so successful? Why have American women compiled an impressive international record since women&#39;s water polo became an Olympic sport in 2000? <\/p>\n<p>In an exclusive SwimmingWorld.TV interview seen on page 41 of the January issue of <i>Swimming World<\/i>, head USA women&#39;s water polo coach, Guy Baker talks about past successes as well as future challenges.  Baker assesses medal prospects in Beijing, the continued development of strong American players and an overview of the international landscape of women&#39;s water polo. <\/p>\n<p>One of the critical elements to sustaining the success of the USA program is the existence of a strong junior &quot;feeder&quot; system to the national team.  According to Baker, the current junior system allows for the constant identification and development of athletes who can move onto the national team in an almost seamless fashion.
