Stories of 2007 &#8211; May-June"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>PHOENIX, Arizona, December 28.  KATE Ziegler was the top story in swimming in the months of May and June.  The distance superstar planted a flag on the Mount Everest of distance swimming as she tracked down Janet Evans&#39; 1500 freestyle world record \u2013 the oldest on the books.  Ziegler&#39;s record breaking swim spotlight the <font color=red>Flash!<\/font>-tagged stories in May and June. <\/p>\n<p><b>MAY<\/b><br \/>\nWhile Ziegler&#39;s swim would give the swimming community something positive to talk about a month later, Syracuse&#39;s administration made a horrible decision to cut its swimming and diving program.  The athletic director is still under heavy fire as the swimming community continues to rally behind the program.<\/p>\n<p><a href=http:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/lane9\/news\/14836.asp> Syracuse Swimming and Diving on Chopping Block <\/a><\/p>\n<p><b>JUNE<\/b><br \/>\nA pair of world records went down during the month of June, with Ziegler easily owning the spotlight.
