Kiefer comments on the irony of winning gold in Germany, then teaching sailors how to survive submarine and U-boat attacks in an effort to defeat Germany a few years later in World War II. Kiefer, who met Hitler, also talks about being in Germany in 1935. As a high schooler, a tutor followed him overseas as he swam in a series of events in preparation for his return to Berlin in 1936.<\/p>\n

After swimming, he made significant lifelong contributions to aquatics. Hear how he developed products such as non-turbulent lane lines, nylon suits, lifeguard equipment and a slew of other impactful products.<\/p>\n

Kiefer, who recently received the International Swimming Hall of Fame's coveted Gold Medallion Award, truly embodies someone who continues to this day to live his life by the ideals of the Olympic Spirit.<\/p>\n
