Women’s 800 free<\/strong><\/p>\n USA’s Leah Smith<\/strong> threw down a winning effort in the women’s 800-meter free to get Team USA off the a strong day two start.<\/p>\n Smith clocked a time of 8:10.03, which is the fastest time in the world this year. \u00a0With the swim, she jumped to 13th all time in the event’s history.<\/p>\n Euro’s Boglarka Kapas<\/strong> overtook USA’s Becca Mann<\/strong> down the stretch, 8:12.23 to 8:12.43. \u00a0Kapas has been faster with a lifetime best of 8:11.43 from earlier this month at the European Championships.<\/p>\n Euro’s Lotte Friis<\/strong> (8:17.04), USA’s Sarah Henry<\/strong> (8:18.37) and Euro’s Jazmin Carlin<\/strong> (8:21.33) also competed in the finale.<\/p>\n Full splits in the Results links to the right.<\/p>\n Running Team Score:<\/strong> USA 80, Euro 51<\/p>\n Men’s 1500 free<\/strong><\/p>\n USA’s Connor Jaeger<\/strong> held off world-record holder Gregorio Paltrinieri<\/strong> to break a 15-year-old American and U.S. Open record in the men’s 1500-meter free at the 2015 Duel in the Pool.<\/p>\n After battling back and forth in a head-to-head matchup, Jaeger got his hand on the wall first with a 14:19.29. \u00a0That swim blasted Erik Vendt’s<\/strong> 15-year-old record of 14:31.02 set for USC at the 2000 NCAA Championships.<\/p>\n That moved Jaeger up to sixth all time in the race’s history.<\/p>\n Paltrinieri, who just set the world record with a 14:08.06 at the 2015 European Championships last week, managed to take second in 14:20.24. \u00a0That time still stands as the 10th fastest performance ever.<\/p>\n USA’s Michael McBroom<\/strong> turned in a third-place time of 14:38.92 to round out scoring.<\/p>\n Full splits in the Results links to the right.<\/p>\n Running Team Score: <\/strong>USA 86, Euro 54<\/p>\n Women’s 200 free<\/strong><\/p>\n USA’s Missy Franklin<\/strong> took down the American record as she edged Euro’s MVP Katinka Hosszu<\/strong> in the women’s 200-meter free for Hosszu’s first loss\u00a0at the 2015 Duel in the Pool.<\/p>\n Franklin clocked a time of 1:52.74 for the win, clipping Katie Hoff’s<\/strong> 2010 record of 1:52.91. \u00a0The swim pushed Franklin up to 10th all time in the race’s history.<\/p>\n Hosszu placed second in 1:52.79, well back of her lifetime best of 1:51.18 that puts her third all time.<\/p>\n Euro’s Siobhan-Marie O’Connor<\/strong> placed third overall in 1:53.82.<\/p>\n USA’s Melanie Margalis<\/strong> (1:54.35), USA’s Leah Smith<\/strong> (1:55.33) and Euro’s Hannah Miley<\/strong> (1:57.08) also swam in the heat.<\/p>\n Running Team Score:<\/strong> USA 91, Euro 58<\/p>\n Men’s 200 free<\/strong><\/p>\n USA’s Conor Dwyer<\/strong> lowered the U.S. Open record in the men’s 200-meter free as he led a USA 1-2 in the event at the 2015 Duel in the Pool.<\/p>\n Dwyer raced his way to a win in 1:42.10. That time cleared the U.S. Open record of 1:42.68 set by Ricky Berens<\/strong> back in 2011. \u00a0Dwyer has been faster in his career with a 1:41.30 from 2013.<\/p>\n USA’s Ryan Lochte<\/strong> gave USA the 1-2 with a 1:42.53, while Euro’s James Guy<\/strong> placed third in 1:42.93.<\/p>\n USA’s Zane Grothe<\/strong> (1:44.48), Euro’s Dan Wallace<\/strong> (1:44.95) and Euro’s Dion Dreesens<\/strong> (1:45.01) also competed in the finale.<\/p>\n Running Team Score:\u00a0<\/strong>USA 99, Euro 59<\/p>\n Women’s 100 back<\/strong><\/p>\n USA’s Courtney Bartholomew<\/strong> has had a career meet, including an American record in the women’s 100-meter back at the 2015 Duel in the Pool.<\/p>\n Bartholomew, a Swimming World<\/em> college intern, blasted a loaded finale with a winning time of 55.92. \u00a0That swim broke the American record of 55.97 set by Natalie Coughlin<\/strong> back in 2011.<\/p>\n Bartholomew vaulted to sixth all time with that swim.<\/p>\n Mie Nielsen<\/strong> finished second for the Euros with a time of 56.20, while USA’s Claire Adams<\/strong> took third in 56.45.<\/p>\n Euro’s Katinka Hosszu<\/strong> had a surprising fourth-place time of 57.62 with Euro’s Lauren Quigley<\/strong> (57.74) and USA’s Missy Franklin<\/strong> (58.84) also swimming in the heat.<\/p>\n Running Team Score:<\/strong> USA 105, Euro 62<\/p>\n Men’s 100 back<\/strong><\/p>\n USA’s Matt Grevers<\/strong> clipped the world record in the men’s 100-meter back as he unified one of the pesky unratified American records at the 2015 Duel in the Pool.<\/p>\n Grevers blasted his way to a smoking time of 48.92. \u00a0That swim broke the world record of 48.94 set by American Nick Thoman<\/strong> back in 2009.<\/p>\n That time, however, did not stand as the American record as USA Swimming had banned techsuits earlier than the rest of the world. \u00a0Thoman posted that world mark in a techsuit.<\/p>\n Last night, Grevers took down Peter Marshall’s<\/strong> American record of 49.64, but wiped out the inconsistencies with his 48.92 today.<\/p>\n Grevers split the race 23.56, 48.92 (25.36).<\/p>\n Euro’s Arkady Vyatchanin<\/strong> took second in 50.37 with USA’s Eugene Godsoe<\/strong> earning third in 51.08. \u00a0Euro’s Pavel Sankovich<\/strong> (51.40) also swam.<\/p>\n Running Team Score:<\/strong> USA 111, Euro 65<\/p>\n Women’s 100 breast<\/strong><\/p>\n Euro’s Yuliya Efimova<\/strong> clipped USA’s Katie Meili<\/strong> by the slimmest of margins with a U.S. Open mark in the women’s 100-meter breast at the 2015 Duel in the Pool.<\/p>\n Efimova won the race, 1:03.19 to 1:03.20, as her time broke the U.S. Open record of 1:03.33 set by Rebecca Soni<\/strong> back in 2011. \u00a0That’s almost as fast as Efimova’s career best 1:02.96 from 2013.<\/p>\n Meili broke Jessica Hardy’s<\/strong>\u00a0American record of 1:03.30 with that 1:03.20 as she moved up to sixth all time in the event’s history.<\/p>\n The fastest time ever by an American is a 1:02.70, however, as Soni clocked that in 2009. That time was unratified by USA Swimming.\u00a0USA Swimming decided that American records set in techsuits after Oct. 1, 2009 \u2013\u00a0when USA Swimming implemented the techsuit ban domestically – would not be ratified.\u00a0This is the case even for times swum legally in international events where ban was not in effect yet.<\/p>\n Hardy, meanwhile, took third tonight.<\/p>\n Euro’s Fanny Lecluyse<\/strong> (1:05.56), USA’s Laura Sogar<\/strong> (1:05.77), Euro’s Hilda Luthersdottir<\/strong> (1:05.92) also competed.<\/p>\n Running Team Score:<\/strong> USA 115, Euro 70<\/p>\n Men’s 100 breast<\/strong><\/p>\n USA’s Cody Miller<\/strong> definitely has enjoyed swimming in his home pool at the IU Natatorium at IUPUI with a second American record at the 2015 Duel in the Pool.<\/p>\n Miller raced his way to a 56.43 in the men’s 100-meter breast to down the previous mark of 56.88 set by Kevin Cordes<\/strong> back in 2013. \u00a0Miller moved up to fifth all time in the event’s history.<\/p>\n Yesterday, Miller took down the 200-meter breaststroke American record with a 2:02.33.<\/p>\n Euro’s Daniel Gyurta<\/strong> placed second in 57.11 with teammate Craig Benson<\/strong> putting up a third-place 57.97.<\/p>\n USA’s Cordes (58.09), USA’s Andrew Wilson<\/strong> (58.46) and Euro’s Andrew Willis<\/strong> (58.69) also swam in the finale.<\/p>\n Running Team Score:<\/strong> USA 120, Euro 74<\/p>\n Women’s 200 fly<\/strong><\/p>\n USA’s Cammile Adams<\/strong> collected her first American record with a win in the women’s 200-meter fly at the 2015 Duel in the Pool.<\/p>\n Adams raced her way to a time of 2:03.39. \u00a0That swim broke Kathleen Hersey’s<\/strong> American record of 2:03.49 set back in 2011. \u00a0That vaulted Adams to 13th all time in the event’s history.<\/p>\n Euro’s Franziska Hentke<\/strong> raced her way to second in 2:03.74, while USA’s Hali Flickinger<\/strong> placed third in 2:04.72.<\/p>\n USA’s Kelsi Worrell<\/strong> (2:04.78) and Euro’s Zsuzsanna Jakabos<\/strong> (2:06.46) rounded out the finale.<\/p>\n Running Team Score:<\/strong> USA 126, Euro 77<\/p>\n Men’s 200 fly<\/strong><\/p>\n USA’s Tom Shields<\/strong> clinched the team win for the U.S. with an American record in the men’s 200-meter fly at the 2015 Duel in the Pool.<\/p>\n Shields scorched the finale in 1:49.05 as he became just the seventh man under 1:50. \u00a0His time broke the American record of 1:50.08 he set back in 2014.<\/p>\n Shields\u00a0also moved to fourth\u00a0all time in the event’s history behind Chad le Clos<\/strong> (1:48.56), Daiya Seto<\/strong> (1:48.92) and Laszlo Cseh<\/strong> (1:49.00).<\/p>\n Euro’s Viktor Bromer<\/strong> took second in 1:52.39 with USA’s Tyler Clary<\/strong> placed third in 1:54.74. \u00a0 Euro’s David Verraszto<\/strong> hit the wall fourth in 1:55.13.<\/p>\n Running Team Score:<\/strong> USA 132, Euro 80<\/p>\n Women’s 50 free<\/strong><\/p>\n Europe finally battled back from a whitewash as Euro’s Ranomi Kromowidjojo<\/strong> tied her own world record in the women’s 50-meter free at the 2015 Duel in the Pool.<\/p>\n Kromowidjojo clocked a time of 23.24 to tie her previous world record from 2013. \u00a0Euro’s Jeanette Ottesen<\/strong> placed second in 23.49 to vault to seventh all time in the event’s history.<\/p>\n USA’s Lia Neal<\/strong> finished third with a time of 23.95, while Euro’s Aliaksandra Herasimenia<\/strong> took fourth in 23.98.<\/p>\n USA’s Simone Manuel<\/strong> (24.07) and Margo Geer<\/strong> (24.67) comprised the rest of the heat.<\/p>\n Running Team Score:<\/strong> USA 133, Euro 88 – Team USA Clinches Duel in the Pool Victory<\/p>\n Men’s 50 free<\/strong><\/p>\n USA’s Nathan Adrian<\/strong> picked up the men’s 50-meter freestyle victory at the 2015 Duel in the Pool to down the U.S. Open record.<\/p>\n Adrian hit the wall in 20.95 as he became the first man under 21 seconds on U.S. soil. \u00a0He broke the U.S. Open mark of 21.10 set by Fred Bousquet<\/strong> back in 2004.<\/p>\n Euro’s Vlad Morozov<\/strong> took second in 21.09, also under the previous U.S. Open mark, while USA’s Josh Schneider<\/strong> earned third in 21.10 to equal the former mark.<\/p>\n USA’s Michael Chadwick<\/strong> (21.16), Euro’s Marco Orsi<\/strong> took fourth and fifth.<\/p>\n Running Team Score:<\/strong> USA 139, Euro 91<\/p>\n Women’s 200 IM<\/strong><\/p>\n World-record holder Katinka Hosszu<\/strong> set the U.S. Open record in the women’s 200-meter IM.<\/p>\n Hosszu won the race in 2:03.66, breaking the U.S. Open record of 2:04.91 set by Caitlin Leverenz<\/strong> back in 2011 in Atlanta.<\/p>\n Euro’s Siobhan-Marie O’Connor<\/strong> finished second overall in 2:05.19 with USA’s Melanie Margalis<\/strong> earning third in 2:06.34.<\/p>\n USA’s Leverenz (2:06.65), USA’s Katie Meili<\/strong> (2:09.06) and Euro’s Hannah Miley<\/strong> (2:09.91) closed out the rest of the heat.<\/p>\n Running Team Score:<\/strong> USA 140, Euro 99<\/p>\n Men’s 200 IM<\/strong><\/p>\n Ryan Lochte<\/strong> drew a disqualification after clocking a 1:52.80 in the men’s 200-meter IM, leaving Josh Prenot as the winner.<\/p>\n Lochte looked to have been disqualified for using the Lochte turn on his back heading into the freestyle leg.<\/p>\n Prenot clocked a time of 1:53.09 for the title, while USA’s Conor Dwyer<\/strong> placed second in 1:54.21.<\/p>\n Euro’s Dan Wallace<\/strong> (1:55.18) and David Verraszto<\/strong> (1:58.16) placed third and fourth in the finale.<\/p>\n Running Team Score:<\/strong> USA 148, Euro 100<\/p>\n Women’s 400 free relay<\/strong><\/p>\n The European All Stars crushed Team USA in the women’s 400-meter free relay.<\/p>\n Aliaksandra Herasimenia, Ranomi Kromowidjojo, Jeanette Ottesen<\/strong> and Siobhan-Marie O’Connor<\/strong> won the finale in 3:27.61. \u00a0That swim was a second of The Netherlands’ world record of 3:26.53, which the Euros would not have been able to break as being from different countries.<\/p>\n Team USA’s Lia Neal, Missy Franklin, Margo Geer<\/strong> and Simone Manuel<\/strong> took second in relay<\/strong><\/p>\n Team USA took down another ratified American record with a win in the men’s 400-meter free relay at the 2015 Duel in the Pool.<\/p>\n Team USA’s Josh Schneider, Matt Grevers, Michael Chadwick<\/strong> and Nathan Adrian<\/strong> posted a winning time of 3:05.42. \u00a0That swim beat the ratified American record of 3:06.10 set by Adrian, Garrett Weber-Gale, Ricky Berens<\/strong> and Ryan Lochte<\/strong> back in 2010.<\/p>\n The time does not, however, break the fastest time by Americans – the world record 3:03.30 set by Adrian, Gervers, Weber-Gale and
