Day two of the 2015 Nation’s Capital Invitational continued with fast swims all around. Reece Whitley<\/b> set the tone for the evening when he delivered a sizzling 52.56 to win the boy’s open 100 breaststroke. Whitley’s time was quicker than the previous National Age Group record of 52.83 set in 2014 by\u00a0Carsten Vissering<\/strong>, but he was not the only quick breaststroker swimming today.\u00a0Michael Andrew<\/strong> turned in a final time of 52.50 at the 2015 USA Swimming Junior Nationals West meet to claim the official NAG record.<\/p>\n

Nation Capital’s\u00a0Anna Belousova\u00a0<\/strong>finished first in the girls open 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:00.58.\u00a0Kaki Christensen\u00a0<\/strong>of Chelsea Piers Aquatics Club (CPAC) was second with a time of 1:01.41, while\u00a0Allie Szekely<\/strong> of Central Bucks (CBST) took third with a 1:01.70.<\/p>\n

Katie Ledecky<\/strong> of Nation Capital surged ahead of the competition in the girls open 200 freestyle with a final time of 1:41.04. Teammate\u00a0Morgan Hill\u00a0<\/strong>grabbed second in the event with a time of 1:46.99, and\u00a0Rachael Burnett<\/strong> of Machine Aquatics was third with a 1:48.52.<\/p>\n

Machine Aquatics’ James Murphy\u00a0<\/b>turned in a final time of 1:36.77 for first in the boys open 200 free. North Carolina Aquatics’ (NCAC)\u00a0Will Macmillan\u00a0<\/strong>posted a time of 1:37.04 for second, while Nation’s Capital’s\u00a0Vince Regent<\/strong> took third with a 1:38.38.<\/p>\n

Cassidy Bayer<\/strong> of Nation Capital dashed ahead of the competition in the girls open 100 fly, stopping the clock at 52.78. Teammates\u00a0Kylie Jordan<\/strong>\u00a0(53.59) and\u00a0Jasmine Hellmer<\/strong> (54.20) finished second and third respectively.<\/p>\n

Macmillan turned up the heat in the boys open 100 fly finishing ahead of the competition with a time of 47.97. CBST’s\u00a0Greg Brocato<\/strong> was second in the event with a time of 48.59, while Nation Capital’s\u00a0Sam Pomajevich<\/strong>\u00a0finished a close third with a time of 48.74.<\/p>\n

Thirteen-year-old\u00a0Anna Keating\u00a0<\/strong>dashed ahead of the competition in the 13-14 girls 100 breaststroke, posting a final time of 1:03.26.\u00a0Joseph Schaefer<\/strong> of MACH topped the boys 13-14 100 breaststroke with a final time of 1:00.40.<\/p>\n

NCAP’s\u00a0Katie Mack<\/strong> posted the top time in the girls 13-14 200 free with a time of 1:49.14, finishing almost a full two seconds ahead of the competition. CPAC’s\u00a0Bridget Semenuk<\/strong> took second in the event with a time of 1:51.13, while NCAP’s\u00a0Claire Nguyen<\/strong> rounded out the top three with a 1:52.47.<\/p>\n

The boys 13-14 200 free was a battle to the finish with NCAP’s\u00a0Sean Conway<\/strong> and\u00a0Brian Brennan<\/strong> of SSC dueling for first. Conway got to the wall first, stopping the clock at 1:43.76 over Brennan’s 1:43.92.<\/p>\n

Mack was at it again in the 13-14 girls 100 fly finishing first with a time of 54.97. Teammate Abby Harter<\/b>\u00a0took second overall with a time of 56.16, while\u00a0Caroline Famous<\/strong> of SSC was a close third with a 56.46.<\/p>\n

The top three athletes in the boys 13-14 100 fly finished within .71 seconds of one another.\u00a0Benjamin Charles<\/strong> of MACH grabbed the first-place finish with a 53.20, while NOVA’s\u00a0Atesh Camurdan<\/strong> delivered a second-place finish with a time of 53.60. NCAP’s\u00a0Peter Makin<\/strong> rounded out the top three with a 53.91.<\/p>\n
