That swim broke the American record of 49.64 set by<strong> Peter Marshall<\/strong> back in 2008, and lowered Grevers&#8217; U.S. Open record of 49.85 from 2011.<\/p>\n<p>That&#8217;s not the fastest legal time by an American. \u00a0Thoman put up an unratified 48.94 as a relay leadoff in 2009. \u00a0USA Swimming decided that American records set in techsuits after Oct. 1, 2009 \u2013 when USA Swimming implemented the techsuit ban domestically &#8211; would not be ratified. \u00a0This is the case even for times swum legally in international events where ban was not in effect yet.<\/p>\n<p>Overall, the team posted a time of 3:20.91 to break the American record of 3:20.99 set by <strong>Nick Thoman, Mike Alexandrov, Ryan Lochte<\/strong> and <strong>Garrett Weber-Gale<\/strong> back in 2010. \u00a0They also downed the U.S. Open mark of 3:23.55 set by Thoman, <strong>Brendan Hansen, Tyler McGill<\/strong> and Grevers back in 2011 in Atlanta.<\/p>\n<p>That&#8217;s not the fastest legal time by an American team either. \u00a0Thoman, <strong>Mark Gangloff, Michael Phelps<\/strong> and Adrian clocked a 3:20.71 back in 2009 as well, and the time is unratified for the same reasons as above.<\/p>\n<p>The European All-Star team of <strong>Arkady Vyatchanin, Daniel Gyurta, Laszlo Cseh<\/strong> and <strong>Vlad Morozov<\/strong>
