Hit refresh for the latest coverage.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Women&#8217;s 400 IM<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>World record holder <strong>Katinka Hosszu<\/strong> of Hungary did what she had to do to deliver a lead to the European All Stars in her pet event.<\/p>\n<p>Hosszu clocked a 4:21.21 for the win, a few seconds off her world record of 4:19.46, but still the ninth-fastest time all time in the event&#8217;s history. \u00a0Hosszu&#8217;s time does stand as a US Open record, beating the 4:24.37 set by Hosszu.<\/p>\n<p>USA&#8217;s <strong>Caitlin Leverenz<\/strong> and <strong>Sarah Henry<\/strong> did their best to balance the damage with a 2-3 effort. Leverenz took second in 4:26.74 tonight, while Henry placed third in 4:27.63.<\/p>\n<p>Euro&#8217;s <strong>Zsuzsanna Jakabos<\/strong> (4:30.67), USA&#8217;s <strong>Becca Mann<\/strong> (4:31.14) and Euro&#8217;s<strong> Hannah Miley<\/strong> (4:31.70) also competed.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Running Team Score:<\/strong>\u00a0Euro 5, USA 4<\/p>\n<p><strong>Men&#8217;s 400 IM<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>USA&#8217;s <strong>Ryan Lochte<\/strong> made a serious run at the world record through 200 meters before he turned off the jets and settled in for the ever-important win. \u00a0Lochte clocked a winning time of 4:02.78, well off his world record of 3:55.50.<\/p>\n<div class=\"oembed-wrap\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Lochte: &quot;It might take me a day to recover. Verraszto<\/strong> (4:04.63) went 2-3 to balance out Lochte&#8217;s win.<\/p>\n<p>USA&#8217;s <strong>Tyler Clary<\/strong> finished fourth in 4:07.31.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Running Team Score:<\/strong> Euro 9, USA 9<\/p>\n<p><strong>Women&#8217;s 100 free<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>USA&#8217;s <strong>Simone Manuel<\/strong> put up a stunning upset of the vaunted European sprint crew with an American record to win the 100-meter free.<\/p>\n<p>Manuel turned in a scorching 24.83, 51.69 (26.69) to break <strong>Natalie Coughlin&#8217;s<\/strong> American record of 51.88 set as a relay leadoff at the 2010 World Short Course Championships. \u00a0The time moved Manuel up to a ninth-place tie in the all-time performers rankings.<\/p>\n<p>USA&#8217;s <strong>Lia Neal<\/strong> provided a big bump for Team USA with a second-place 52.08 as Team USA took the lead. \u00a0Neal vaulted to 19th all time in the event&#8217;s history with that swim.<\/p>\n<p>Euro&#8217;s <strong>Ranomi Kromowidjojo<\/strong>, the favorite coming into the meet, took third in 52.28.<\/p>\n<p>Euro&#8217;s <strong>Aliaksandra Herasimenia<\/strong> (52.66), USA&#8217;s <strong>Margo Geer<\/strong> (52.93) and Euro&#8217;s <strong>Mie Nielsen<\/strong> (53.46) also competed.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Running Team Score:<\/strong>\u00a0USA 17, Euro 10<\/p>\n<p><strong>Men&#8217;s 100 free<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Team USA took a big lead with a 1-2 finish as <strong>Nathan Adrian<\/strong> threw down a winning effort of 46.57. \u00a0That swim is the third-fastest in the world this year.<\/p>\n<p>Adrian was joined at the wall by teammate <strong>Josh Schneider<\/strong> with a 46.66 as the Stars and Stripes made a huge move after the 100 freestyle.<\/p>\n<p>Euro&#8217;s <strong>Vlad Morozov<\/strong> took third with a time of 46.68.<\/p>\n<p>Euro&#8217;s <strong>Marco Orsi<\/strong> (46.81), USA&#8217;s <strong>Michael Chadwick<\/strong> (46.95) and Euro&#8217;s <strong>Dion Dreesens<\/strong> (48.40) also swam in the heat.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Running Team Score:<\/strong> USA 25, Euro 11<\/p>\n<p><strong>Women&#8217;s 200 back<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Euro&#8217;s <strong>Katinka Hosszu<\/strong> took down her second victory and U.S. Open record of the night with a winning effort in the 200 back.<\/p>\n<p>Hosszu clocked a 1:59.75 as she challenged her world record of 1:59.23. \u00a0Her swim broke the U.S. Open record of 2:00.14 set by <strong>Missy Franklin<\/strong> back in 2011, and is just the fourth sub-2:00 time ever. \u00a0The time actually stands third all time behind a 1:59.49 from <strong>Emily Seebohm<\/strong> in November.<\/p>\n<p>USA&#8217;s <strong>Courtney Bartholomew<\/strong> edged Franklin for the second-place points, 2:01.33 to 2:01.53. \u00a0Bartholomew vaulted up to ninth all time in the event&#8217;s history with her swift swim.<\/p>\n<p>USA&#8217;s <strong>Claire Adams<\/strong> (2:02.47), Euro&#8217;s <strong>Elizabeth Simmonds<\/strong> (2:02.67) and Euro&#8217;s <strong>Eyglo Gustafsdottir<\/strong> (2:06.01) rounded out the rest of the heat.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Running Team Score:<\/strong> USA 29, Euro 16<\/p>\n<p><strong>Men&#8217;s 200 back<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>USA&#8217;s <strong>Matt Grevers<\/strong> used a tremendous back half as her overtook Euro&#8217;s Arkady Vyatchanin down the stretch to win the 200 back.<\/p>\n<p>Grevers clocked a top time of 1:48.97, just off <strong>Ryan Lochte&#8217;s<\/strong> U.S. Open record of 1:48.90 from 2011. \u00a0His time put him third in the world this year, and just missed his personal best time of 1:48.74 from 2010.<\/p>\n<p>Euro&#8217;s<strong> Arkady Vyatchanin<\/strong> hit the wall second in 1:50.87 after he lead throughout most of the race. \u00a0USA&#8217;s <strong>Ryan Lochte<\/strong> collected an important team point with a third-place 1:52.58.<\/p>\n<p>Euro&#8217;s <strong>Luca Mencarini<\/strong> (1:54.42) and USA&#8217;s <strong>Tyler Clary<\/strong> (1:56.70) also put up swims in the heat.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Running Team Score:<\/strong> USA 35, Euro 19<\/p>\n<p><strong>Women&#8217;s 200 breast<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>USA&#8217;s <strong>Melanie Margalis<\/strong> pulled off an upset, beating a former world record holder in <strong>Yuliya Efimova<\/strong> in the women&#8217;s 200-meter breast.<\/p>\n<p>Margalis clocked a top time of 2:18.35 to move up to 16th all time in the event&#8217;s history. \u00a0Efimova, who had a previous world record of 2:14.39 stripped due to a positive doping test, took second tonight in 2:18.55.<\/p>\n<p>Euro&#8217;s <strong>Fanny Lecluyse<\/strong> wound up third overall in 2:19.57 for some more team points.<\/p>\n<p>USA&#8217;s <strong>Micah Lawrence<\/strong> (2:19.98), USA&#8217;s <strong>Laura Sogar<\/strong> (2:20.34) and Euro&#8217;s <strong>Hilda Luthersdottir<\/strong> (2:23.19) finished fourth through sixth.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Running Team Score:<\/strong> USA 40, Euro 23<\/p>\n<p><strong>Men&#8217;s 200 breast<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>USA&#8217;s <strong>Cody Miller<\/strong> upset world record holder Daniel Gyurta of Hungary in the men&#8217;s 200-meter breaststroke at the 2015 Duel in the Pool.<\/p>\n<p>Less than a month after getting engaged and in front of what amounts to a home crowd as a former IU Hoosier, Miller blasted his way to a 2:02.33 for the win. \u00a0That swim clipped <strong>Kevin Cordes&#8217;<\/strong> American mark of 2:02.38 from 2013 and moved Miller up to fifth in the all time rankings.<\/p>\n<p>Miller also broke<strong> Brendan Hansen&#8217;s<\/strong> U.S. Open mark of 2:03.62 from 2011.<\/p>\n<p>Gyurta, who owns the world record with a 2:00.48 from 2014, took second in 2:02.36. \u00a0Euro&#8217;s <strong>Andrew Willis<\/strong> placed third in 2:03.60.<\/p>\n<p>USA&#8217;s <strong>Nic Fink<\/strong> (2:03.62), Euro&#8217;s <strong>Craig Benson<\/strong> (2:04.10) and USA&#8217;s <strong>Josh Prenot<\/strong> (2:04.22) also competed.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Running Team Score:<\/strong> USA 45, Euro 27<\/p>\n<p><strong>Women&#8217;s 100 fly<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Euro&#8217;s <strong>Jeanette Ottesen<\/strong> downed the U.S. Open record in the women&#8217;s 100-meter fly at the 2015 Duel in the Pool.<\/p>\n<p>Ottesen raced her way to a sizzling 55.10 for the win. \u00a0That swim broke the 56.23 U.S. Open record set by <strong>Natalie Coughlin<\/strong>\u00a0back in 2011. \u00a0It also stands as the fourth-fastest time ever.<\/p>\n<p><strong>All Time Top 5 100 Fly<\/strong><\/p>\n[table \u201c\u201d not found \/]<br \/>\n\n<p>USA&#8217;s <strong>Kelsi Worrell<\/strong> took down the American record with a second-place 55.42. \u00a0That swim broke the 55.59 set by <strong>Dana Vollmer<\/strong> back in 2010. That swim pushed Worrell to sixth all time in the event&#8217;s history.<\/p>\n<p>Euro&#8217;s <strong>Siobhan-Marie O&#8217;Connor<\/strong> took third in 55.93.<\/p>\n<p>USA&#8217;s <strong>Kendyl Stewart<\/strong> (56.67), Euro&#8217;s <strong>Franziska Hentke<\/strong> (57.28) and USA&#8217;s <strong>Cammile Adams<\/strong> (58.79) also competed.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Running Team Score:<\/strong>\u00a0USA 48, Euro 33<\/p>\n<p><strong>Men&#8217;s 100 fly<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>USA&#8217;s <strong>Tom Shields<\/strong> crushed the American record in the men&#8217;s 100-meter fly at the 2015 Duel in the Pool.<\/p>\n<p>Shields raced his way to a winning time of 48.63 to break his own American record of 48.80 set in 2013. \u00a0He nearly took down <strong>Chad le Clos&#8217;<\/strong> world record of 48.44 set back in 2014. \u00a0Shields still stands third-fastest all time behind le Clos and<strong> Evgeny Korotyshkin<\/strong> (48.48).<\/p>\n<p>Notably, Shields also downed the U.S. Open record of 49.07 set by <strong>Ian Crocker<\/strong> back in 2004.<\/p>\n<p>Euro&#8217;s <strong>Laszlo Cseh<\/strong> (49.55) and <strong>Pavel Sankovich<\/strong> (51.21) took second and third.<\/p>\n<p>Euro&#8217;s <strong>Viktor Bromer<\/strong> (51.38) and USA&#8217;s <strong>Eugene Godsoe<\/strong> (51.52) also swam in the heat.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Running Team Score:<\/strong> USA 53, Euro 37<\/p>\n<p><strong>Women&#8217;s 400 free<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Euro&#8217;s <strong>Jazmin Carlin<\/strong> overtook USA&#8217;s <strong>Hali Flickinger<\/strong> with a U.S. Open-tying record in the women&#8217;s 400-meter free at the 2015 Duel in the Pool.<\/p>\n<p>Carlin came from behind to win in 3:58.07. \u00a0That swim matched the time put up by <strong>Chloe Sutton<\/strong> in Atlanta in 2011. Carlin also moved to 13th all time.<\/p>\n<p>Flickinger settled for second in 3:58.26 to move to 15th all time in the event&#8217;s history.<\/p>\n<p>Euro&#8217;s <strong>Lotte Friis<\/strong> wound up taking third in 3:59.15.<\/p>\n<p>USA&#8217;s <strong>Leah Smith<\/strong> (3:59.24), USA&#8217;s <strong>Sarah Henry<\/strong> (4:02.17) and Euro&#8217;s <strong>Boglarka Kapas<\/strong> (4:04.87) also turned in times.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Running Team Score:<\/strong> USA 56, Euro 43<\/p>\n<p><strong>Men&#8217;s 400 free<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The top four swimmers all cleared the U.S. Open record as Euro&#8217;s <strong>James Guy<\/strong> held off a trio of Americans to win the 400-meter free.<\/p>\n<p>Guy clocked a top time of 3:37.78 for the win. \u00a0That time is off his personal best of 3:36.34 from 2014, but was good enough to win.<\/p>\n<p>USA&#8217;s <strong>Conor Dwyer<\/strong> (3:38.10) and <strong>Connor Jaeger<\/strong> (3:38.36) picked up second and third-place team points for USA, while hometown swimmer <strong>Zane Grothe<\/strong> took fourth in 3:39.70.<\/p>\n<p>All four bested <strong>Michael Klueh&#8217;s<\/strong> U.S. Open record of 3:40.05 from 2011.<\/p>\n<p>Euro&#8217;s <strong>Gregorio Paltrinieri<\/strong> (3:42.47) and <strong>Peter Bernek<\/strong> (3:43.16) took fifth and sixth. \u00a0Bernek was a big surprise as he is the third-fastest swimmer all time in the event&#8217;s history.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Running Team Score:<\/strong> USA 60, Euro 48<\/p>\n<p><strong>Women&#8217;s 400 medley relay<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Team USA&#8217;s <strong>Courtney Bartholomew, Katie Meili, Kelsi Worrell<\/strong> and <strong>Simone Manuel<\/strong> set the world record in the women&#8217;s 400-meter medley relay at the 2015 Duel in the Pool.<\/p>\n<p>In a dogfight against the European All Stars, Team USA put up a 3:45.20 to win the event and clip\u00a0the world record of 3:45.56 set by the U.S. back in 2011.<\/p>\n<p>The European All Stars of <strong>Katinka Hosszu, Yuliya Efimova, Jeanette Ottesen<\/strong> and <strong>Ranomi Kromowidjojo<\/strong> took second in 3:45.46.<\/p>\n<p>Hosszu broke the U.S. Open record in the 100 back with a 55.71 leadoff. \u00a0That&#8217;s lower than the 55.97 set by <strong>Natalie Coughlin<\/strong> to leadoff the former world record.<\/p>\n[table \u201c\u201d not found \/]<br \/>\n\n<p><strong>Running Team Score:\u00a0<\/strong>USA 67, Euro 48<\/p>\n<p><strong>Men&#8217;s 400 medley relay<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Team USA&#8217;s <strong>Matt Grevers, Kevin Cordes, Tom Shields<\/strong> and <strong>Nathan Adrian<\/strong> put up an American record in the men&#8217;s 400-meter medley relay to finish a relay sweep for Team USA at the 2015 Duel in the Pool.<\/p>\n<p>Grevers led the squad with an American record time of 49.25 in the 100 back. That swim broke the American record of 49.64 set by<strong> Peter Marshall<\/strong> back in 2008, and lowered Grevers&#8217; U.S. Open record of 49.85 from 2011.<\/p>\n<p>That&#8217;s not the fastest legal time by an American. \u00a0Thoman put up an unratified 48.94 as a relay leadoff in 2009. \u00a0USA Swimming decided that American records set in techsuits after Oct. 1, 2009 \u2013 when USA Swimming implemented the techsuit ban domestically &#8211; would not be ratified. \u00a0This is the case even for times swum legally in international events where ban was not in effect yet.<\/p>\n<p>Overall, the team posted a time of 3:20.91 to break the American record of 3:20.99 set by <strong>Nick Thoman, Mike Alexandrov, Ryan Lochte<\/strong> and <strong>Garrett Weber-Gale<\/strong> back in 2010. \u00a0They also downed the U.S. Open mark of 3:23.55 set by Thoman, <strong>Brendan Hansen, Tyler McGill<\/strong> and Grevers back in 2011 in Atlanta.<\/p>\n<p>The European All-Star team of <strong>Arkady Vyatchanin, Daniel Gyurta, Laszlo Cseh<\/strong> and <strong>Vlad Morozov<\/strong> wound up taking second in 3:21.87.<\/p>\n[table \u201c\u201d not found \/]<br \/>\n\n<p><strong>Running Team Score:<\/strong> USA 74, Euro 48<\/p>\n<p><strong>SCHEDULED EVENTS<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Women\u2019s 400 IM<\/li>\n<li>Men\u2019s 400 IM<\/li>\n<li>Women\u2019s 100 free<\/li>\n<li>Men\u2019s 100 free<\/li>\n<li>Women\u2019s 200 back<\/li>\n<li>Men\u2019s 200 back<\/li>\n<li>Women\u2019s 200 breast<\/li>\n<li>Men\u2019s 200 breast<\/li>\n<li>Women\u2019s 100 fly<\/li>\n<li>Men\u2019s 100 fly<\/li>\n<li>Women\u2019s 400 free<\/li>\n<li>Men\u2019s 400 free<\/li>\n<li>Women\u2019s 400 medley relay<\/li>\n<li>Men\u2019s 400 medley relay<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Everything you need to follow along with finals\u00a0live during the 2015 Duel in the Pool.
