OVER the past month, <i>Swimming World<\/i> has polled its readers via <b>SwimmingWorldMagazine.com<\/b> to see who they would select as the World Male and Female Swimmers of the Year.  Our readers&#39; voices have been heard as we present our Swimmers Choice awards.<\/p>\n<p>With 31.24 percent of the vote, the United States&#39; Kate Ziegler walked away with the World Female Swimmer of the Year Swimmers Choice award, with compatriot Natalie Coughlin (15.43 percent) and France&#39;s Laure Manaudou (12.14 percent) completing the top three choices for the award.<\/p>\n<p><b>World Female Swimmer of the Year<\/b><br \/>\nKate Ziegler, USA \t\t31.24%<br \/>\nNatalie Coughlin, USA \t\t15.43%<br \/>\nLaure Manaudou, FRA \t\t12.14%<br \/>\nLibby Lenton, AUS \t\t9.74%<br \/>\nTherese Alshammar, SWE  \t \t9.36%<br \/>\nKatie Hoff, USA \t\t8.81%<br \/>\nLeisel Jones, AUS \t\t4.82%<br \/>\nKirsty Coventry, ZIM \t\t4.30%<br \/>\nOtylia Jedrzejczak, POL \t\t2.39%<br \/>\nLeila Vaziri, USA \t\t1.77%<\/p>\n<p>The men&#39;s accolade provided a landslide upset vote as the Brazilian voters mobilized their online voting for the award.  Brazil&#39;s Thiago Pereira walked away with an amazing 56.74 percent of the vote to claim the men&#39;s Swimmers Choice award, while the United States&#39; Michael Phelps placed second with 20.42 percent.
