MONTPELLIER, France, November 25. LAURE Manaudou continued on her path towards the 2008 Beijing Olympics with a strong showing at the France Cup held in Montpellier this weekend. The French superstar took home four titles, including a backstroke sweep, during the three-day long course meter affair.<\/p>\n
On top of a win in the 400 free (4:09.18), she touched first in the 50 (29.12), 100 (1:02.09) and 200 (2:14.39) backstroke events.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, Malia Metella and Nicolas Rostoucher accomplished title triples with a trio of wins apiece. Metalla stopped the clock first in the 50 (27.14) and 100 (1:00.76) fly, while also winning the 100 free (55.69) for the women, while Rostoucher topped the 400 (3:50.66) and 800 (7:57:03) free as well as the 400 IM (4:21.86).<\/p>\n
Several other swimmers captured a pair of crowns. For the women, Camelia Potec showed some range with a win in the 200 (1:59.91) and 1500 (16:27.99) free, while Anne Sophie Le Paranthoen won the 50 (32.33) and 100 (1:09.78) breast. Additionally, Camille Muffat claimed the 200 (2:16.48) and 400 (4:46.26) IM.<\/p>\n
On the men's side, Clement Lefert, Christophe Lebon, Benjamin Stasiulis, Fabien Gilot and interloper James Gibson from Great Britain won multiple titles.<\/p>\n
Lefert hit the wall first in the 50 fly (24.81) and 200 IM (2:05.00), while Lebon won the 100 (53.89) and 200 (2:01.29) fly. Stasiulis took home the 100 (56.66) and 200 (2:01.04) back, while Gilot claimed the 100 (48.51) and 200 (1:48.23) free. Gibson, the only successful international swimmer at the meet, nabbed the 50 (28.38) and 100 (1:02.01) breast events.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, Anthony Pannier (1500 free \u2013 15:32.85), Alain Bernard (50 free \u2013 22.20), Simon Dufour (50 back \u2013 26.77) and Julien Nicolardot (200 breast \u2013 2:18.03) placed first in individual events for the men, while Coralie Balmy (800 free \u2013 8:35.48), Celine Couderc (50 free \u2013 25.91), Magali Rousseau (200 fly \u2013 2:15.33) and Coralie Dobral (200 breast \u2013 2:30.97) did the same for the women.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
