{"id":162789,"date":"2015-12-03T16:27:32","date_gmt":"2015-12-03T23:27:32","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/?p=162789"},"modified":"2015-12-03T16:27:32","modified_gmt":"2015-12-03T23:27:32","slug":"the-great-relay-a-great-event-for-a-great-cause","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/the-great-relay-a-great-event-for-a-great-cause\/","title":{"rendered":"The Great Relay: A Great Event for a Great Cause"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/finisinc.cmail19.com\/t\/r-l-zudkrjd-drfkjhdhh-u\/\" target=\"_blank\">FINIS, Inc.<\/a>, a worldwide leader in technical swimming development, is proud to announce that on December 5th, 2015 from 10am \u2013 1pm EST at Columbia University, NYC the <a href=\"http:\/\/finisinc.cmail19.com\/t\/r-l-zudkrjd-drfkjhdhh-o\/\" target=\"_blank\">Trident Swim Foundation<\/a> will be kicking off the 2nd annual Great Relay competition to raise money for their after-school program that combines academic support and swimming for underprivileged kids.<\/p>\n<p>Trident supports two programs in NYC and a newly opened site in Los Angeles, California.<\/p>\n<p>This year Olympians<strong> Kim Vandenberg<\/strong> (USA 2008), <strong>Sophie Edington<\/strong> (Australia 2012), <strong>Bruce Hayes<\/strong> (USA 1984) and <strong>Juan\u00a0Valdivieso<\/strong> (Peru 2000, 2004) will be joining the enthusiastic group of racers!<\/p>\n<p>The Great Relay is the biggest, longest distance relay competition in the United States. \u00a0Teams of 8 or more see how fast they can swim as a relay for 5,000 yards\/meters.
