CHATTANOOGA, Tennessee, November 19. COLLEGE coaches got a good feel for the versatility of the swimmers from Baylor School, Girls Preparatory School and McCallie School, as Baylor School hosted a college-distance high school dual meet format.<\/p>\n
Baylor head coach Dan Flack said that he was pleased with all of the performances in the atypical dual meet format. <\/p>\n
"For this time of year to be swimming this many best times and standards is exciting," Flack said. "All the coaches thought that we would get better swims in this situation than a typical club meet, and by the results, we were right."<\/p>\n
Team Results<\/b>
\nBaylor won each of the two dual meets. The Baylor women defeated Girls Preparatory by a score of 147-75 while the Baylor men downed McCallie by a 153-60 final.<\/p>\n
Women's Individual Results<\/b>
\nBaylor busted out a 3:59.30 400 medley relay (Sarah List, Alison Lusk, Erin Simpson and Keely Lusk) in the meet's first event, winning the event by more than 20 seconds.<\/p>\n
Baylor's Sloane Pitman won two events. She clocked an All-American consideration time in her 200 freestyle with a 1:52.87 performance, and she also topped the 100 freestyle field (52.77).<\/p>\n
Savannah Napier of Baylor also took two for the Aqua Raider women. Napier handled the distance freestyle work, hauling in first-place finishes in the 1000 (10:46.11) and the 500 (5:11.81).<\/p>\n
Alison Lusk cruised to impressive event-winning times in both the 400 IM and the 200 breaststroke. Lusk utilized a 1:14.80 100 breaststroke split to dominate the field in the 400 IM. She then turned in a pool-record time in the 200 breaststroke later on in the meet with a 2:18.44 showing.<\/p>\n
Men's Individual Results<\/b>
\nMartin Grodzki led the way for the Aqua Raiders' men's team, winning three events. Grodzki wasted no time gathering speed in the 1000 freestyle, taking out the first 50 in 22.58. He split a 4:35.62 at the 500 mark before storming into the wall at a blazing 9:21.71.<\/p>\n
Grodzki fell just .01 short of the pool record in the 400 IM, clocking his second first-place time of the meet (4:04.51).<\/p>\n
He closed out his individual events by turning in a quick 4:35.16 500 freestyle.<\/p>\n
Brad Hamilton of Baylor stole the limelight after an All-American time in the 50 freestyle where he clocked a pool-record 20.65. Hamilton sprinted the first 100 of his 200 butterfly in a 52.79 and finished the event in a 1:53.53 time.<\/p>\n
Baylor's Reese Shirley added to the record-setting bonanza, leading off the first-place 400 medley relay in a 50.93. His 100 backstroke swim erased the former Baylor school and pool record. Shirley's backstroke set the tone for the rest of the relay, as the quartet of Shirley, Spencer Rowe, Matt Limerick and Josh Sosna won with a 3:38.88 time.<\/p>\n
Shirley also added a win for the Aqua Raiders in the 200 backstroke, stopping the clock at 1:54.19.<\/p>\n
Baylor closed out the romping of McCallie in the meet's final event, putting up a pool-record time of 3:14.53 in the 400 freestyle relay.<\/p>\n
Diving Results<\/b>
\nGirls Preparatory finished one-two in the diving event. Julianne Wilson took the top honor with a 226.20 score while her teammate, Erin Dunn, took second (176.90). Baylor's Julia Ferguson placed third with a 167.45 score.<\/p>\n
Baylor's Jordan Mauney took the first-place spot for the meet, scoring 265.30. McCallie's Tony Restaco and Logan Ridge took second and third, respectively, with scores of 207.95 and 206.30<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
